Some of the best action animation I've ever seen is Rock lee vs Gaara of the desert on Naruto. That fight was a m a z i n g...

Gaara crushed lee's leg with sand and he created a shield of sand over his skin so when lee dropped him hard into the ground it only made his sand-face crack a bit... lee had to become some sort of super saiyan thing to even have a chance...

spidey's in for a really tough fight if sandman's even half as powerful as gaara.

Because the criticism usually comes from people who don't know about the comics and how cool he is. Sandman has great powers, and limitless possibilities. He is a perfect villian for SM3.

Don't forget the weapons(hammer etc). The neat thing about him is that it's like fighting a ghost at times, he can change his body to where it's very hard to get hurt. Literally he can tear Spidey apart with his powers.

Not one of the Sandman haters could ever give a valid reason why he wouldn't make a good villian. The only reason I ever heard was that he was a secondary villian. Guess what, he appeared in Spider-Man #4 and throughout ASM and the Marvel Universe. Most definately not a secondary villian.

What's not to like, he can manipulate sand into any size and shape. Geez, how can anyone think he won't make a great villian both visually and dramatically.
