...is there anything that you STILL wish was included in the movie?

The Director's Cut was a particularly awesome adaptation of the graphic novel, thanks mostly to the inclusion of stuff like Hollis Mason's death and more Rorschach monologues. Not to mention we still have the ultimate cut coming out which will include the Black Freighter and more Bernie scenes.

But is there anything from the GN that you really wanted to see that was still left out of the Director's Cut? I have to say, I was very satisfied with it, but I still would have liked to see a few things, such as:

- Some extended dialogue from the Minutemen at the beginning of Sally's flashback.
- Rorschach's line "Was offered Swedish love and French love, but not American love. American love, like Coke in green glass bottles. They don't make it anymore." I just feel that this is the one iconic Rorschach line that didn't make it into the movie.
- Even more of Jon's flashbacks on Mars. I would have liked to see Jon's father telling him to abandon watchmaking after the Atomic Bomb is dropped, Jon and Laurie visiting Adrian at Karnak (introduction and explanation of Bubastis), Jon and Laurie handling the Keene riots in Washington.
- I wish they found a way to include Rorschach's "NEVER!" note pinned to the dead multiple rapist after the Keene Act was passed.
- The detectives getting the "Raw Shark" tip.
- Explanation of Rorschach's mask/Kitty Genovese story
- Rorschach confronting his landlady. While I would have liked to see this one, I can see why it was left out. It does make more sense that Rorschach would just get his costume back at the jail. Still, it does show a compassionate side to Rorschach and it is one of my favorite parts from the GN.
- Some more of Adrian's backstory could have been explored at Karnak through a flashback.
- Veidt's "I DID IT!" line.

I realize that no adaptation can be perfect, and I am extremely thankful for what we got with the Watchmen Director's Cut. But could you imagine the geekgasms if all of the above was included as well?

It would be close to 4 hours if that all of it was included. Snyder would probably have loved to do it too.

I would've liked to see all that but it would be a selfish notion to condemn the DC for leaving it out, knowing the restrictions placed on the production.

Luckily we share the same thoughts of what we did get in DC. I have nothing but admiration for Zack Snyder now.

More Bubastis. Particularly the explanation to the general audience as to WTF she is. She didn't even get to chase a frog or butterfly:( Long live Bubastis.

Haven't watched the DC yet, but will when I get an extra three hours. Something tells me I won't get the amount of stuff with Walter and the shrink that I want.

What's up with the cop shooting Rorschach in the beginning and him just suddenly disappearing? Very poorly cut.

Sugar cubes. :)
Haha I had been thinking that too! I thought I read somewhere the sugar cubes had been included in some version? The landlady scene is missed as well.

And Adrian's 'I did it!'....I was *really* hoping that had somehow made it in. One of my favorite scenes from the book.

Oh, and the Black Freighter. :yay: But I can wait till the super deluxe version for that I guess! :cwink:

I think the idea is that it wasn't actually Rorschach standing by the window. The police officer is afraid of Rorschach since he is on the top 10 list and has become infamous for his violent and psychotic methods; you don't want to run into him.

He thought he saw someone that wasn't there and fired.

Or that Rorschach disappeared before being shot. Honestly, how many times has Batman disappeared by using a camera pan as a distraction?

They show the flash from the gun being reflected onto Rorschach. That's my problem with the scene.

The cop's a bad shot? Rorschach is bulletproof? A minor mistake that's easily ignored?

Not really easily ignored because:

1. It was a new scene which made me pay more attention.
2. It doesn't make sense.

I obviously can ignore it since I didn't notice it until now, but that's just me. Fortunately, that's all I need to worry about. Sorry that it bothers you.

It could be like Pulp Fiction and it was divine intervention

What I wish was still included in the movie:

- "Nothing ever ends" in it's correct place, said by Manhattan to Veidt
- The Squid
- The scene when Kovacs confronts his landlady and takes pity on her children
- Veidt's "I DID IT!" scream of victory
- "I did it 35 minutes ago". It's such an iconic line from the novel, making it into "I triggered it 35 minutes ago" in the film was a pointless change

I kind of wish they would have kept the story of the detectives visiting Dan and then finding out he's Nite Owl later.

I assumed Rorschach got shot once. When at Dan's house he mentions he got injured, but doesn't need hospitalization.

He already knew he was Nite Owl... the cop was merely applying pressure. That's why you see the cop was demoted later in the book...

seriously, i agree with everything here.

some critical scenes/lines were missing.

above all, i thought the kitty genovese stuff was really potent. op really nailed most of the stuff i wish they added.

Yeah, I haven't seen the DC but I watched that scene on youtube and it bothered me too. I was hoping the way it seemed off as a cut was due to youtube jerkyness on my computer but apparently not.
I prefer Rorscach just sneaking in and out like the book, also the cop could have just walked over to the window and shot down at him as he scaled back down the building.
I was hoping that there would be no adds that would be detrimental but that seems to be one, very rarely do I see a DC that does not add some useless scene that makes a scene less effective, it's annoying as you already got the good kick on initial viewing and now they overcooked it.
Other examples: LOTR TFOTR: The fast paced cut of teh final fight between the big orc boss and Aragorn is spoiled by the orc taking the time to slowly lick blood off the knife.
Daredvil DC: The great scene in the train station when DD hears the bullet entering the chamber and reacts rightaway is spoiled by the add of a stupid line 'See you in hell Diablo' coming after he hears the bullet, negating the fact he used his supersenses to escape death at the last possible moment, dumb.
and now this Rorscach scene.
It may seem like an overreacting nitpicking rant, but when you have waited most of your life for a movie and they don't put out the tightest best possible version, even though there are two cuts out there, it is very annoying as you feel like you are not getting the full kick.
I really hope there is no other adds that bug me.
