I guess one other option, and this might be possible if the deal closes soon, is to refer to them in A4 and mention something about them being away somewhere.

But part of it all depends on how they're going to integrate them into this already established world. If we start with a 'mature' team in this MCU, won't that be a problem? If they've been doing it for 8-9 years or more, where were they when Thanos was attacking? It almost seems like they'd have to either do a retro, mature FF, or start from the beginning.

... unless they skip ahead and create a Marvel + 10 type universe... which could actually be sort of cool... but also create some problems. :hmm

I would prefer a 60s era team, but even if you go modern you could have the team trapped in the Negative Zone since 2008. Having the team's ship pop back into our universe would make for a heck of a post credit scene!

I reckon you can still do the passage of time with movies. In fact it would actually work well with sequels and trilogies etc. I really don’t think tv could do that delicious kirby art justice.
One thing that does bug me about "Lost in Space" is how flat the cinematography is. Even "The Gifted" has more striking imagery. (Still, cool show)

She looks like she’s like 12 though. She can do anything. It’s not like sue does martial arts or something. I mean how old is Robert Downey Jnr, like 68?
Wasp didn't really do martial arts either, but Hope is jacked as sh** in the films.

The more I think about what I want from an FF film, the more I realize what I really want is to just be able to sit back, relax and be entertained. It's their job to figure out how to do that, not mine. :funny:

Which title do you guys think would be good for the MCU Fantastic Four film?

1. Fantastic Four: First Family - if they make it into a period piece then this title would symbolize them being the first chronological superhero family in the MCU.

2. Fantastic Four: For The Future - Alludes to the Future Foundation should they use the Hickman run as the primary inspiration. This title would also alluded to Reed Richards desire for creating a better tommorow, a better future.

3. Fantastic Four: Beyond: - The title would be a nod to Star Trek: Beyond but it would actually mean that the Fantastic Four(more specifically Reed Richards) wants to push the boundaries of what’s humanly possible. Reed Richards would would want to acquire better knowledge of the cosmos beyond the normal human understanding of it; whether that be space travel or dimension hopping or whatever he’d want explore the unexplored and make discoveries previously thought to outside the realm of possibility. I think this title would make sense for a more cosmic Fantastic Four film than we’ve seen before.

4. Fantastic Four: Reborn - This on-the-nose title like Homecoming did for Spider-Man would allude to the FF finally returning home to the Marvel where they belong with it being the “rebirth” of the Fantastic Four franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ha well that’s what you get when you get a team with a history as long as the fantastic four’s. There’s a panel for everything. Still, you get my point that her main power set isn’t kicking and jumping. She can do a bit of it sure but mostly it’s forcefields and stealth.

Yeah I’ve noticed that with a lot of tv shows. Same with the expanse I thought.

It’s interesting that one of the most frequent discussions in this thread seems to be about the FF’s aesthetics

I’m a huge fan of that B movie type feeling for the movies so here goes

Fantastic four : first family
Fantastic four and the coming of galactus
Fantastic four and the world of the Inhumans

So little bit of a Harry Potter feeling there

Fantastic Four - The World's Greatest Comic Film

Ha, cute

I’ve been trying to think of good music themes for all the ff.

Reed Richards - across the universe by the Beatles
Susan storm - ???? Maybe Florence and the machine?
Ben Grimm - meet the Mets (this would be a great song for his fight sequence actually)
Johnny - ????

I agree with Crimz. Doing all of that in the first movie robs the audience of the journey and character development that come with all of those arcs. You can't start the team off with 10 years of experience, with Reed & Sue having been married for years, Franklin and Valeria already alive, Future Foundation already a thing - in the FIRST movie. These could be whole movies by themselves. We have all the time in the world, no need to rush into things.

Here's a question. Do you think the audience will care about a MCU fantastic four reboot outside the core MCU fans? Or is the MCU reboot coming too late? IMO the MCU reboot should have happened before Infinity War.

Its not coming too late. It will be a good time when it does come because the stink of the last movie needs to be really aired out.

As soon as Marvel get Fox characters back, they should immediately follow the WB/DC model and try to have a fully formed X-Men and FF universe, then afterwards forget about continuity. :o

I think it's the perfect time. While there will be less of the original Avengers to interact with, Marvel will want to elevate another team to that level. The Fantastic Four and X-Men are the perfect teams to fill that void. Also, with losing James Gunn the Guardians of the Galaxy are on shaky ground which opens things up for the Fantastic Four especially as Marvel wants to go more cosmic.
Plus it's already been 3 years since the last film, I say an FF film will be at 2020/2021 at the earliest that would leave 5+ years to forget about Fant4stic (it being boring and forgettable helps too).

I think the perfect storm has been created for the Fantastic Four, all that's needed is great advertising and a great film.

The Fantastic Four has gone through some tough times over the last 20 years, but prior to that - during the time that comic books and cartoons were the primary popular fantasy medium (before video games and numerous fantasy TV shows and films, home video, internet etc.), FF was a major force. And people in the 30--60 age range still have fond memories of those comic books and cartoons.

And even younger people - who might not have grown up reading the comic books, have turned on the TV and seen flawed, but still somewhat entertaining FF films.

I think there's a broad familiarity with the FF that makes them intriguing to a lot of people, and then when you throw in the enthusiastic support and anticipation from people who are more familiar with comics and Marvel, I think there will be a lot of excitement for an FF film from the first official announcement through to release.

In terms of anticipation, I think the excitement around an FF film will be something special. As one anecdotal example consider this thread and other FF discussions and how active they have been even without any real FF film in the works.

It's all in the execution. If they get good, well-beloved actors, and the film looks different and interesting, in two or three years people won't even remember the last FantFourstic Four.
If there's something we know from the MCU is that Kevin Feige can do magic.

Just depends how good it is, and if they can market it well and in the right way given the circumstances.

Yeah of course. Most people can’t remember the last few tries but people know what to expect with marvel now. As long as it’s good, people will turn up

Henry Golding would be an absolutely perfect Reed Richards. He’s got star power but not too much that it’s distracting and he kind of has that almost Leslie Nielsen type square jawed hero in forbidden planet type look, a perfect template for inspiration for a fantastic four movie

The guardians are not on shaky ground. Some of you need to stop projecting. If marvel studios had.lost feige, then yes. There are so many good directors out there who can make a great third gotg film.

I have the undelying feeling that some of you want the established mcu teams to stumble or take a step back to push your favorites. Thisreally annoys me.

Avengers will be the kimgs of superhero teams for a LONG TIME.

I'm not projecting anything, just using the information given to me. They lost their director who had a lot of influence in how we view the film, plus the main cast isn't as invested because of it (especially Batista). They could definitely find a good director to replace him, but the next GoTG film is definitely on shaky ground until we find out more.

No one said that they wanted a team to fail for another to succeed.

Nobody except bautista is less invested. The only one who is throwing a tantrum is dave and he is hardly "the main cast" all by himself. They are still using gunns script and there are looking to some very talented individuals.

Also the general audience isnt aware of this drama so the.popularity of the team is unaffected. They literally couldnt care less and they dont follow this stuff. Guardians are gonna be more than fine.
