How is this even a debate? Obviously their powers should be CGI. Are we still in the place that CGI automatically gets criticized just for existing? When will we be able to move beyond this?

I never criticized CGI entirely. All I said was there should be more effort to minimize it. A good balance of the two isn’t hard to pull off.

There's really no need to use practical effects for the F4 quartet. Maybe for moloids and the Mole Man, okay but if the CGI is already convincing, there'd be just no use for practical effects.

Practical stuff can only be used for like extreme closeups or for something that needs to be interacted with quickly. But no more.

The Thing needs to be done like Hulk and Thanos. No guy in a rubber suit, please.

I just don't see the point in using practical effects for impractical characters. Especially for Thing, after Marvel just gave us one of, if not the best CGI characters ever.

This shouldn’t even be a conversation IMO

But then hypocritically I want Darkseid to be makeup and practical as much as possible because DC has shown it can’t do CGI characters. Marvel doesn’t have that problem

I dont want a practical darkseid, I just want DC/WB to quit being idiots and be better at everything.

The only actor in my mind who could've played a practical Darkseid is dead (Michael Clarke Duncan).

If people are still looking for a traditional Human Torch, Ross Lynch is getting a lot of buzz at the moment because of My Friend Dahmer and he’s about the same age as Tom Holland

Who would you love to see write the script? I reckon Richard ayoade (still my fave as a director) and Jessica Gao (rick and morty, robot chicken) with the Russo’s having a quick check over it would be ace to make sure it all ties in to the marvel u

I could see this working well

I think it's time to bring back Wyatt Wingfoot. He wasn't in the other movies. None of the cartoons either, which is weird. Who would play him? I lean toward Martin Sensmeier.

Given we can all probably agree that Doom should not be the main villain for our first MCU Fantastic Four film, who would you all like to see? My pick is Mole Man, played by Rick Hoffman.

Rick Hoffman would be absolutely perfect for the role.

But would Marvel pick him? Would they try to make Moleman have more of an edge? Would they change him like they changed the Vulture and had him played by Michael Keaton?

But Rick Hoffman definitely would have a great acerbic wit and sarcastic humour which would fit in with the MCU. And he looks just like the character.

I agree with Moleman or something space related. Moleman could provide something we haven't seen on screen before, a superhero team vs an enormous Kaiju-like monster.

I'm also leaning to something space/dimension related. In every film the team never left earth for more than 5 minutes and even then it was only to just outside earth or a barren wasteland. That's ridiculous for a team all about exploring. The MCU FF should have exploration at the forefront next to being a family. So another possible first villain could be Blaastar, and he can set up Annihilus for a later film.

Just tweak him a bit to be escaping Annihilus who destroyed his planet in the negative zone and taking advantage of the FF's good nature to recover. After fully recovering he can betray them and head for our universe to take over earth. Then the usual superhero stuff kicks in.

More importantly, where is Doctor Doom going to debut? People talk like it's impossible or bad business to have an FF or X-Men film before 2023, and waiting until 2026 for Doom would be crazy.

I'm not familiar with Martin Sensmeier's work but he does have a good look for the character. My personal pick would still be Geno Segers from Banshee.

I think there's a great opportunity to tie a Mole Man story into the main themes of family and the importance of belonging and looking past appearances that are central to the Fantastic Four. Basically Harvey Elder is bullied and taken advantage of by his peers. Sue is the only person who takes time to be kind to him. Ultimately he finds a "family" of his own with captured alien lifeforms, which are also mistreated, and lashes out in revenge against those who cast him and his "family" out from society.

Hmm, if The Mole Man is the villain in the MCU reintroduction, I bet a lot of people would say that they’ve ripped off The Incredibles, now that part 2 is finally doing that Underminer thing.

Just FYI, my pick for The Mole Man would be Snowpiercer’s (and Twin Peak’s) Clark Middleton.

You know, the director of snowpierce, Joon ho Bong might be a good choice as director for fantastic four actually

Hmm, not really seeing that. He'd be a dream pick to direct a Batman movie tho.

Kathryn Bigelow if she went back to her Strange Days ways...

With an older cast if they go older

Reed Richards- Timothy Olyphant
Ben Grimm- John Cena
Sue Storm- Reese Witherspoon
Johnny Storm- Scott Eastwood
Victor Von Doom/Dr. Doom- Nikolaj Coster Waldau

Younger cast for a FF franchise

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic- Joseph Gordon Levitt
Ben Grimm/The Thing- Garrett Hedlund
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman- Michelle Williams
Johnny Storm/Human Torch- Ross Lynch
Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom- Dan Stevens
