Comics Old school villains

After watching spiderman 3 which i thought was a really good installment, i wanted to go oldschool, seeing venom (not that oldschool) and sandman it brought back memories of all the old villains id liked as a kid watching the cartoon series. Im 18 and so what might be oldschool for me isnt that old for other people on the board.

But my questions are:

1) is ther anywhere i can get a big book with say the first 100 issues of amazing spiderman in? I know this might be crazy talk because these issues alone go for £££'s but i thought you could get an antholgoy if you get me of the first 100 issues somewhere. someone please inform

and 2) is there a spidey comic out there that has the old school villains in etc but it has a really modern vibe like artwork etc again im clueless so be kind and enlighten me

1) I'm not sure about the first 100 all in one collection, but you can get the new Omnibus, which reprints the first 38 issues in color, along with some extra annuals and such. You could also go with the Essentials, which are in black & white, but cheap, and the first few should probably get you through 100.

2) I'd say try Spider-Man: Blue, which is more of a modern incarnation of an old Spidey tale, I think.

You should be able to get them both for cheap prices on either Amazon or Ebay. Spider-Man: Blue is still in print, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

another option you might consider if you can find it is the DVD Rom of Amazing Spider-Man which has PDF Scans of ever issue of ASM through June of last year plus the annuals...

The DVD Rom of ASM is a good idea. I got that and I've already read all the issues from the 60s. They are classics. I just skimmed the ones from the 70s and read the important issues like Captian Stacy's death and Gwen's death. I have to say though, I like Sandman's backstory from the movie more than the comic. I think Sandman is a complex character in the movie. He's much better than Venom.
