I don't completely believe him. I think his director friend is right, he won't actually do it(retire).
I don't disagree that it was the worst part. I just don't think it ruined the film.
Oh, and the hilarious thing about the SW Prequels is, all of the actors are actually good when they're not in SW.![]()
Oh great, first Gene Wilder goes into retirement, then Sean Connery and now Gary Oldman. Who's next, Burt Reyolds?!?!?![]()

Amen.Ah, it's been a long ride Oldman. Wish you well on the retirement.
...just don't leave until Nolan's finished with this franchise, eh?![]()
)agreed. and great, true actors tend to retire, unfortunately. They have a real feel for when they ought to walk away. It's the attention ****es who keep coming back to the screen over and over, way past their welcome.
I really hope he stays for one more batman and then retires
This couldn't be said any other way. Oldman would go out on top as the BEST Jim Gordon...ever.
I hate actors who say this. its not as if he works 9-5 5 days a week in a backbreaking job he has the luxury of sitting back in his mansion with his pick of scripts he can act whenever an interesting film comes along actors never really "retire".
Moving from job to job, no real career stability, spending extendended periods of time away from home and family, working very irregular hours...it's very cushy indeed. It's not ditchdigging, but it can still be very hard on a person.I hate actors who say this. its not as if he works 9-5 5 days a week in a backbreaking job he has the luxury of sitting back in his mansion with his pick of scripts he can act whenever an interesting film comes along actors never really "retire".

EDIT: Silver Souper beat me to it.
t: that rarely happens. usually i'm about the 7th person to make a pointI can usually get in a point first, but I find it goes ignored most of the time.![]()
Oh sweet, I didnt know thatword is he's signed for 3 bat-pics. i've yet to see someone cite it and I'm still waiting![]()
cheers chucktallica
i get what you're saying but you have to remember there's a lot more than just the time spent on set- shooting often involves odd hours, living in a foreign location and things like that which can really strain a family's schedule. he's looking after his kids and doesn't have a wife to share that duty so he probably has to be even more available than the average dad.
my hope is- at LEAST finish the trilogy with nolan, hit a homerun with one more villain role and then retire while on top
Yeah I agreeI hope he does Batman 3 then retire.
