Oliver Stone's MLK Biopic

Foxx is a terrible choice. Cant stand the guy, to be honest.

Much rather see Memphis come about (the Greengrass one).

Isn't Foxx a bit too old to play MLK? How about Ejiofor?

Aren't they around the same age? If any actor looks like MLK it's Anthony Mackie.

Huh, thought he was older. He doesn't look any younger than Foxx.

No. Only Chadwick Boseman is allowed to portray male black historical figures from now on! :argh:

Haha, I was waiting to see how long an Elba suggestion would be. Mandela, then MLK. Hell, pull a Nutty Professor and bust out an MLK meets Mandela crossover. :oldrazz:

It wouldn't be a movie with a black character unless Idris Elba gets mentioned for the part. He's like a black Clark Gable!

The odd thing is, back in the day with makeup he very well could have done it. He's not a bad actor, he just kind of....went off the path.

Oliver Stone directing a MLK biopic? Didn't The Boondocks make a joke about this?

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Chris Rock for Jesse Jackson and Dr. Cox for Coretta Scott King

Nate Parker (Red Tails) is too young but slightly resembles MLKjr.

I don't see this getting made or if it is it won't be a big release.

I always thought MLK should have gotten a "Malcolm X" type bio film by this time or at least a modern day one if one has already been made but stone is not the right man for the job as others have pointed out.

there are no enough black actors(plus woman) and directors(plus woman) working in hollywood. so now even white guys will direct MLK movies?

i am all for the best talent for the movie. but come on. give it to a black man or woman.

This is probably Stone's attempt to get back into the awards fold.

His last few movies have been mediocre. Savages wasn't that bad, but the leads were just insanely boring and about as charismatic as a plank of wood.

I disagree it has to be made by a black director, I just don't think stone is the right guy for it regardless of his race.

A movie is about what's on screen more than who directs it. Assuming they are competent a white or black or asian director etc. shouldn't make a difference. I can see how it might be more personally impactful for a black director though.

I think Nonso Anozie (Game Of Thrones, The Grey, Atonement, Ender's Game, Jack Ryan, RocknRolla, The History Channel's The Bible) would make a good MLK.
