Olympics to get rid of Wrestling in 2020

You have got to be kidding me. That HAS to be a joke: wrestling is one of the THE classic Olympic sports. This is BS if they really get rid of it; it is one of the greatest pure sports on the planet.

MMA is one of the fastest growing spectator sports in the world, and most of the fundamentals of that sport are based on Greco-Roman wrestling, so the popular interest will also be served by keeping it.

This doesn't make any sense. I'd like to know how they came to this decision.

how the f can they do this?..hell no

Wow, that is lame. I saw some of the martial art fighting last time. It was pretty boring.

WHAT??!! Wrestling is one of the toughest, most time-honored sports in existence. This decision is awful.

I'm glad others agree with me. This has to be the worst decision the Olympic Games council has made to my recollection.

How about the hunders/thousands of men who've trained their entire lives in hopes to represent their countries!? What of the Olympians already on the team!

We need to get a committee consisting of Dana White, John Irving and Kurt Angle on this stat! They'll fix this.

I'm conflicted. Never been a fan of this brand wrestling at all. I find it boring. The Olympics should be able to evolve and better represent modern society and the strengths we value. But, come on, rather than cutting it couldn't they have updated the sport, or at least replaced it with some other form of combat?

That's crazy. Wonder if losing this affects the sport overall? I'm n mma fan and wrestling can be a big part of what wins fights so the impact will be interesting to watch.

No wrestling, and i hear they want to include golf? :whatever:

There are a **** ton of 'sports' in the olympics that could be gotten rid of before wrestling.

I wonder if schools will continue to carry it? And what about scholarships? Will colleges offer them now that it is pretty much a dead end sport?

Next Olympic sport to be introduced in the 2020 Olympics:

Who can reach their credit card limit the fastest and avoid payments the longest until the collection agency breaks their knee caps :woot:

Thank God, I thought it was gonna be basketball. A sport people actually watch. And by people I mean me and my friends.

You'll notice that it is predominantly Americans getting upset about them dropping wrestling from the Olympics because wrestling is predominantly an American sport nowadays I feel.

Well, the problem I have with it is that our schools and colleges offer it and it can be a scholarship sport. Whereas some of the other "sports" currently in the olympics could be dropped without effecting any of this or to a lesser degree.

They need to replace it with WWE wrestling.

Then they could actually get more usage out of those lights and pyrotechnics from the opening ceremonies.

The problem isn't with spectator interest, it's with showmanship.

They need to replace it with WWE wrestling.

Canada's team would kick ass:

MEN: Bobby Roode, Chris Jericho, Eric Young, Tyson Kidd, DH Smith, Santino Marella (for the speedwalking with sock puppets event)

WOMEN: Natalia Neidhart, Trish Stratus, Sarita, Taylor Wilde, Rosa Mendes, Maryse Oullet (for the pillowfight event)

HEAD COACH: Bret Hart; ASSISTANT COACHES: Jim Neidhart, Roddy Piper
