I think it's the best issue of the series. Just on its own, without any of the rest of it as context, this issue is the best.
Why? Well, for one thing, they got an artist who can draw comics. Amazing how much difference (even a clearly half-assed effort by) Jim Starlin can make on this book. And you know, I was actually happier to be following Buddy Blank than the protagonists. The protagonists have been the problem with the book. They absolutely canNOT say a kind word about Jason, even though he's maybe the only one of them with anything approximating heroism in this series. Kyle acts like a first-rate toolbox. The Legionnaires are preboot and shouldn't be here. Donna is not herself. I mean, I could go on, but it's nice to follow a character I don't feel guilty for sympathizing with.
