The first actual trailer (not teaser) was released with I Am Legend and leaked onto the internet, and as a result, ***** officially hit the fan about how amazing this movie was going to be and how big of a pain the 7 month stretch would be. We survived, and some of you own it on DVD and Blu-Ray now.

So, where were you when you first saw the trailer for The Dark Knight? Initial reaction?

I woke up at 6:30am, logged onto here and YouTube and found there had been a couple new posters leaked AND the new trailer made had made its way online. I started watching, got up to the "you're just a freak... like me!" line and had to turn it off because of the lousy quality and knew this trailer was looking awesome. Naturally, about 10 seconds later I had to watch it and get it out of my system. I wound up watching it a few more times before getting ready for work shortly after, my mind was blown. As cool as the Wolverine or Terminator trailers were this weekend, neither of which compared to TDK. :)

Like most people on here I would have watched the poor quality bootleg version first.

All I remember is being annoyed that WB didn't just debut it on the net the day before so lots of people like me didn't have to watch such a blurry trailer for the first time.

I was in my apartment cobbling together a horrible scale model of a trade show exhibit design for school. The bootleg trailer struck the internets, thus commandeering a significant portion of my time and dividing my attention. The model came out mediocre.

I guess the obvious reference point here would be to find the old trailer thread if it exists haha. I remember checking that one out in the summer where people's heads were just exploding one after another.

I remember when people here thought Joker will have Texan accent after he saays "I'm man of my word HAHAHAHA"

Man, oh man. That was a fun day. Actually, I watched a leaked version of the trailer a few days before "I Am Legend" came out because I just couldn't wait. I mean, this was a movie I had been eagerly anticipating since seeing that final scene in "Batman Begins". How could I wait?

On the first day that "I Am Legend" came out, I saw it in IMAX to see the prologue. Of course, the prologue was so much better than even "I Am Legend" itself. Later on during that day, I stopped by a movie theater where a friend of mine worked just to see the trailer on the big screen. From what I recall, the trailer wasn't actually released online until a few days later.

I was stunned by that trailer. To this day, it's still stands out as one of the best trailers I have ever seen. Just seeing Heath's Joker on screen for the first time sent waves of anticipation through me. Back then, I remember thinking "This is gonna be a phenomenon." I also thought "Man, July can't get here soon enough." Sure enough, it did. It was a bumpy ride along the way with Heath's passing, but "The Dark Knight" ultimately delivered, and exceeded all of our expectations. I mean, honestly, a year ago, were any of us even thinking that it'd be getting a lot of Oscar buzz?

It's surreal to remember how it was seeing that trailer for the first time, because as I'm typing this now, "The Dark Knight" is playing in the background. "The Dark Knight" stood out there, because as anticipated as it was, it still delivered above and beyond on every level. Hell, we may not see another movie like that anytime soon.

One of my friends from the JOW forums posted a bulletin on myspace, and I immediately knew exactly what it was..needless to day I didnt close out of the Internet for days until the official trailer came out.

Was working on a digital illustration project at like, 1 in the morning. Found a link on Aint it Cool I think. I must've watched it about 20 times. My teacher even saw it when I posted it on Myspace, and he was wondering where I found it. He's not a DC guy, but even he was excited.

Im embarassed to say I watched that crappy quality leaked version from 2:30am till about 5am over and over and overrrrrr. I was blown away!

yeah this date is stuck in my mind forever.

I was at school taking two finals. After my calc final, I went to kill some time before my other one. So i went to the computer lab, visited this site and heard the talk of the trailer bootlegged. I immediately went to Youtube, typed in dark knight trailer and sorted the list by date added, and sure enough it was there. Unfortunately there was no sound but just seeing the shot of, evening commisioner, I was like, oh my god, this looks nothing like the first pic released. then I rushed my final, went home, of course the trailer was taken off youtube and I found this weird unknown site that had the trailer posted and watched it repeatedly and shown everyone in my house the trailer. that was a great day

same here, saw it on youtube. and shat BRICKS, my GOD what a way to hype a movie. :brucebat:

I stayed up till like 1 o'clock in the morning and watched the awesome bootleg and got amazed...

I saw it on a little site that was linked to me. I was amazed when I watched it. I didn't want to stop watching.

I was in the I Am Legend Theater, unawere that the TDK trailer was going to be attached. I was so blown away. I saw the movie a second time JUST for the trailer.

The movie sucked the second time however.

I remember being hyped as hell seeing that bootleg trailer and the sideways/chair prologue for the first time. Could not wait till July and sure enough seemed like a hell of a long wait.

One of the best memories was waiting in line on the 16th (go the Aussies!) for the Imax screening. I remember being so damn nervous that I almost felt like puking. When the movie finished I was so blown away and ready to see it again. Ended up seeing it once in Imax and sadly only twice in regular cinemas (I had planned to go at least once more) and now I own the blu-ray!!!

I think this is the most hyped I've ever been for any movie. Not even Episode 3 made me feel this way.

hmm... back then I was a lurker and not registered. But I knew this was where the trailer in bootleg quality would hit. Watched it in crappy quality and was blown away, because at that moment I realised my faith in Nolan would pay off. Stayed up til 5am in the morning and started watching ad naseaum, but actually had an exam that day as well. So I headed for my exam at 9am, completely wrecked and unfocused as all I could think about was the trailer and getting back home to watch it

And I'd do it again

JowForums FTW!

No, but anyway,

I remember waking up that morning and watching it at least 30 times. Went to class and left the window open. Emailed myself the link.

Then I watched it in class on mute. Occasionally had to close out of it because of the professor snooping and eventually lost it. Got out of class and just kept watching it over and over and over. Posting here, BOF, and JowForums as we over analyzed the crap out of it.

In addition to all that ---- Am I the only one who enjoys watching the bootlegs sometimes after the official versions have been long released? Sometimes I get a kick out hearing the crowd react and everything.

Idk, maybe it's just me.

A Year ago I was so excited that I had something to live for, now im just waiting again to find that something again!

My one year anniversary on this site is in a few hours.... :hehe:

Should I be surprised? :funny:

:applaud

Ah man, I remember watching the trailer and almost being late for university. I was reciting lines all the way on my bike journey - couldn't wait to get back to a computer and watch it again.

First time I saw it was at an advanced screening of I Am Legend. I was so pumped I left without seeing the movie. I got in my car, called my brother, and he put up my horrible description of it on here. I got home and was up like all night answering questions about it. I remember Stotch saying if it was a legit description he'd wear a dress and post a pic. As much as I love the movie, I really miss the anticipation, it was so exciting.
