.....geniuos.So the little part are the fans that suffers, Joe Q and the rest of Marvel is Mephisto feeding on the pain of fans...What about this... Y'know that Mephisto said that a part of Peter and MJ will always know in their souls that they were meant to be together and that Mephisto would love that suffering? or something like that... What about if that "little part of their souls" is just a metaphor to the fans that loved the Parker-Watson union and loved them as if they were family... what if Mephisto is "feeding of the pain and anguish of the thousands of sould that know the truth behind Peter and MJ, throughout other continuities?" If that was the trick behind this Devil deal with nothing in return... it would be a stroke of genius... discuss...
I just joined the site, and reading every page would take Soooo long, so sorry if this has been said:
Does the total randomness of the Mephisto deal bother anyone?
if he can come and FORCE any Superhero to make such a decision...Why wouldn't he?

Yeh....i dunno...divorce is an ugly enough thing...and MArvel took it to the ultimate UGLY LEVEL....dealing with the devil........geniuos.
Stan Lee on CNN said:But what of the man who created Spider-Man? What does he think?
"I think it's a very creative idea. It should stimulate a lot of interest in the characters and the books, and I'm eager to see what happens next," said Stan Lee, who wasn't involved in the current story.
Stans response doesn't even read like a compliment. Think about it. What is a typical response to a child, when they give you a crappy peice of art work? Or you want to be nice to someone without critisizing them?uhhhh... has Stan EVER said a Spider-Man story/idea was bad while it was happening? WEDDING? GREAT IDEA!! CLONE SAGA? WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?!? RELAUNCH AND CHAPTER ONE? WHAT A FRESH TAKE!!
I mean geez... yeah, it's Stan, but he is the very definition of a yes-man.

I was just watching Fox business news on TV and they had Stan Lee on as a guest. The media is calling it a divorce for Spider-Man. Stan didn't correct them and I wouldn't have either. It's just too stupid to explain to the general public. So much for avoiding the bad media buzz surrounding a divorce.
I re-read "Kraven's Last Hunt" just for kicks. Read that classic and tell me how the story still "works" with a nullified marriage? Like in many tales, it's an integral part of the story and motivation. That's the first Spider-Man TPB I've read since this bizarre move. Sad to say, it effected the enjoyment of re-reading the book if even in only a small way.
Dude, he's the face of Marvel. It would be a very stupid business decision to publically act like a fan boy.

t
and he won't put down any Spidey story unless it's something totally bad--the example of "Spidey becomes a rapist" comes to mind that was given a few years ago in that Wizard interview. So, are Peter and MJ about to have One More Day in the newspaper strip too? Is Mephisto in the current storyline???
