Marvel could have been doing that the last ten years. Why haven't they?

I'm sure this One More Day/Brand New Day thing was not the easiest decision to make....to upend 20 years of story. On the other hand, the whole web-shooter thing bothers me....if a spider can produce its own webs, why can't Spider-Man??

Fans don't like change, they always want things "the way they were"...Nothing is ever as good as it was when you were younger. You've experienced more, your perspective has changed....

Because every time they tried, they were met with overwhelming resistance from the fans.

That's funny. They weren't met with 'overwhelming resistance' when they married him, and that was a big change. Usually if you do poor things, like the Clone Saga, you'll be met with derision.

I'm sure if Aunt May was finally put six foot under, not many fans would complain, or if there were a Spider Baby on the way, it'd be seen as a big change, but the next logical step.

In hindsight, most everyone agreed the Clone Saga was bad....also the climate of fans has changed, the internet wasnt prevalent when Spider-Man got married...the best a fan could do back then was write a letter and hope someone read it....

Im very meh about Aunt May, I really don't care either way....no Spider-baby though

You know, I wouldn't have had a problem with the organic shooters, but screwing with continuity ruins it for me. If you want to reboot Spider-Man back to 1970, just start from scratch.

I look at it like this. Reading Spider-Man stories from the Lee-Romita/Andru era is like looking through my high school yearbook. It's a great thing to replay the memories in my mind, but I don't want to relive it.

Is it me or did "Maximum Carnage" get thrown into the basement with the Clone saga??

Yeah, but they want to go back to that classic era of Lee/Romita. Why else would Quesada want to bring back Gwen?

The little flow chart in the end of AMS 546 still has Gwen as being killed by the Green Goblin...I dont know if that means much, but thats what it says

Yes, and thank God. Joe Q. had to be talked out of bringing her back by most of the editors in the Bullpen. I think JMS initially wanted to go back to the point right after issue #98, but Joe Q didn't want to go back that far.

maybe not retconned, but I'm sure they will get MJ back in there somehow....she is a needy b***h and Peter is her crutch....Id like to see Parker with another girl or 4 but thats just me....and as a side note if this Jackpot chick turns out to be MJ I am going to hang myself

Joe Q has already said that Peter and MJ will be together again. The only thing he wanted to ditch was the wedding rings.

TMOB: And I truly respect your opinion farmie... you typically come across as well spoken and quite polite (as opposed to many others), and if BND/Spider-Man is not in your future, I hope that you discover many new and cool comics out there... Invincible is a super-hero book that would probably be right up your alley.

Yeh, I actually picked up the first two giant sized harcover ones of Invincible...(since i am not spending my money on this version of spidey anymore:csad: ...but like Clone saga, it'll be fixed eventually...and then i will collect my favorite hero again.)

I've been picking up lots of tpb's of other things lately actually, and some older spidey ones too! :yay:

I actually DO like Invincible quite a bit. I see the third volume is out now, and i want to get that. THese hardcovers are actually a REALLY good deal too for how many issues you get bound in one volume! (And for some one who hadn't bought any of the actual issues!)

I've also had some weird cravings for Spider-HAM lately...don't know why...like that used to be in the back of Marvel Tales....a guilty pleasure I know...but it'd be cool if they would re-collect all of HIS appearances in a big tpb..!!

That's hardly a retcon, at least one that isn't as serious as BND. Bucky being in the story hasn't changed Captain America himself. Cap's history is still the same.
I disagree. Back then at least, people considered Bucky's death to Cap as to what Uncle Ben's death was to Peter.

Wtf? Bucky's death was long considered sacred, like Uncle Ben and (ironically) Jason Todd. Conceptually, retconning Bucky's death is one of the worst ideas ever.

But in execution, it has become one of the greatest Captain America stories ever. Which goes back to my original point.
