Why is it only Peter that can't be married?

Luke Cage can be married?

Storm and Black Panther can be married?

Why isn't Quesada barking down Sue and Reed's tree? Who have been married longer than all three of the previous couples I just mentioned.

What's so special about Mary Jane and Peter's marriage that he thinks there's a conspiracy behind it? I've never understood this?

Agreed...Peter more than anyone gets absolutely NO happiness, and I hate it. Absolutely hate it. He's lost his Uncle, his first love, his baby, his clone "brother", his boyhood hero (wow that got comic bookish fast), and now, he may lose his wife. That's bull****.

Joe Quesada can go **** himself.

Peter Parker has been a character known to be down on his luck all the time, but I must say, thing's are really getting out of hand considering that now.

Great news! Thanks for posting, SpideyZERO. :yay::up:

I'm really happy Jr.Jr. is glad to be back on the book. He deserves to be back on the book IMO. I'm also really happy that Dan Slott might be on the book. This is getting me truly excited! :spidey::up:

Agreed, and I think There is something special about Jr.Jr.'s art. It's addictive, as if you can't stop reading the Spidey books he draws. Same for John Romita Sr. and Steve Ditko. I love having that addicting feeling.:spidey:

I agree, I've never really thought of it that way before, but it really is, since i'm a huge Spidey Ditko fan, I can't get enough of it, same with Jr. Sr. and Jr. Jr.

As much as he doesnt like the marriage, it has been said again and again by JoeQ and co-workers that to divorce him would be to promote divorce, which is not what he wants to do. And to kill MJ would be to widow him, which would age him even more than having him married at 26-28 (which is normal so I dont get the hate).

One of the major gripes about the marriage is that he's supposed to be the original bad luck hero, so to bag a supermodel when he's a nerd is against everything the character is supposed to be.

However, he got bitten by a freakin spider! It changed his musculature from weedy to lithe and athletic just to be able to do the things he does, it corrected his vision to enable aimed web firing and improved night vision for hunting and therefore he didnt need his milkbottle glasses anymore, the perils he faces changed his personality to bring forward more of his lighter side in both guises and to strengthen his character as a person (again in both guises) - so to say a nerd got superpowers and became a superpowered nerd is just ridiculous.
He was a nerd who bettered himself in every sense of the word without losing who he was at the core. It took time, which is why in highschool he still couldnt get dates. But after a couple years of doing and facing what he does, he gradually changed and became the kind of guy who could meet and be attractive to a supermodel who is a good person in herself.

Why that isnt seen by those controlling this story I dont know...

I got the newest issue of Wizard in the mail, which talks about the history of Pete and MJ.

The article doesn't ever come out and say anything overly SPECIFIC about OMD BUT.......

..."just that marriage will be effected forever, and never turning back"....

It shows a picture of the the classic wedding cover issue ripped in half.

IT has many creators talking about the past and present of the marriage...things they do/don't like about it.

For those that still think nothing is gonna happen to the marriage...that is kinda a funny thought.

Maybe a pregnancy, and for the sake of the baby and as a measure not to have a repetition of what happened to May, Peter has to be apart from MJ for the foreseeable future. Because with everyone knowing who he is, the idea of kidnapping the baby or something (akin to Osborne's doings) would be too much to risk. No turning back could apply to a baby (they're hardly going to advocate the abortion of a baby are they)

This is true, but let's not forget, if there's going to be the whole ret-con thing, maybe MJ dies, (and you never know, May too,) maybe Peter has to ret-con a whole bunch of things with the help of Strange to save them. Yet they have to forget everything.

Saying that though, the breaking of the marriage is almost getting too obvious now. What the hell is the surprise going to be, and we know they tend to give red herrings???

I'm so confused

All I know, whatever happens, it's Peter's fault. He can be an idiot sometimes, and this will make me dislike him more than I ever have.

Mary Jane dies.
That's what a rep told us.

Maybe we're jumping to conclusions about OMD/BND. Maybe there's no cosmic reset button. Maybe it is as simple as
MJ being killed off.
. Because as drastic as that sounds, it makes better sense for two reasons...

1) Peter's always been about street-level, not the heady cosmic stuff. That's why the original resolution for the clone-saga involving Mephisto and time-travel was rejected.

2) Any cosmic reset button would have ripple effects across the Marvel Universe considering Pete's place in civil war and would really confuse the continuity and flow of other books. In the now continuity did Pete get unmasked? Was Pete still Iron-Spider? Was he even in civil war? Were all of Kingpin's actions erased? Too many questions.

What do others think?

What if OMD is about the wiping out the JMS era? Right before Peter and MJ got back together? What if she stayed in LA, thy never got back together, May never found out his secret (sigh) and in that time, she somehow became a superhero? Or they can go back a little farther, to when Peter thought MJ was died. (Well, Everyone but peter thought MJ was dead.) Like she faked her death or something, then somehow became a supehero? I'd accept that more then a total history change.

The new Wizard article doesn't come out and say it.......but it sounds like/infers that Pete AND MJ have to make a choice (together) that alters the marriage...for the sake of some so called better-good of Spidey-Land...which then makes it so they were never married or turns it into some alternate phase where they don't know they are married....as a sacrifice to achieve something "better"...like maybe saving aunt may.

Which is all gonna still feel forced regardless thanks to the long running JQ AGENDA.

That article asks "will MJ die?"

"Will the Divorce?"

But the other written stuff in the article then talks more and implies a CHANGE IN MARRIAGE "STATUS".

Oh, and it states the change in marriage status will be irrevercible tho.....hmn...

And like i said, it shows the classic marriage picture of them from the annual cover RIPPED IN HALF.

So, with the other pic already out of OMD coming between Pete and MJ....

This current article and marriage pic ripped in half.

And all of JQ's years of anti marriage quotes...i can't say that the odds of the marriage surviving OMD look good at all.

It's bad enough they would be messing up the marriage, but irrevercible? Thats not good.

yea i would hate to see the not together. From when i started reading/collecting spidey within the pasy 6-8yrs i have only known them to be married and all that. Also it would be silly to retcon spidey as the other poster said with his involvement with CW and his unmasking and all that. Personally if there is anything retconed i would just like to see his id be private again and only known to the heroes and villains who knew before he unmasked and all that. We know it will be something magical in nature with strange being involved in OMD story and all that.

Horrible new's...

damn, I'm glad OMD will start soon, all those rumors are becoming very tiring...

If it's the end of the marriage, as long as it's presented in a good storytelling manner, then I'll accept it and life goes on.

Back in 1973, nobody expected Gwen to die, yet she did.

In 2007, people want MJ and Peter to stay married, but they might not.

As long as it's a good story, then the never-ending saga of a man named Peter Parker shall continue.

And THAT folks... is merely my two cents.
