Comics One More Day - SPOILER!

that was definitly new news to me, thanks man. Wow, jeez, well i guess we all know which choice he chose. Where is that excerpt from?

pfff...I have to say I had a small hope that JQ wouldn't go in that obvious direction...I guess I was too naive...

By the way, if he choose to keep Aunt May alive, it would be a stupid choice (ok I know, she's in her death bed "because" of Peter, but damn she's an old woman, and by the way, Spidey has always been driven by guilt and responsibility, it would be just a stupid easy way out for Peter to have to make that kind of choice. I don't know how to explain my point, but I'd rather see Peter say "Ok, I acted like a moron during Civil War and listened to Iron A**, I take responsability for her death" than "Sorry MJ, but I'd rather forget everything about you and our marriage than let my old "with already a foot on her grave" Aunt die" if you know what I mean. But hey just my opinion

I think that's the opinion of a good 95% or more of the board here... Though, from what I remember, "...the wants of boards aren't always the wants of the general public...". It's still not true for this, however, as I know many many people who love that Spider-Man is married to MJ.

Personally I think it would suck ass if May dies from this situation, which we already know she lives anyway. To bring May back after she had the perfect send off in ASM#400 for her life to end as the result of a sniper would be a highly unfitting end for her. She deserves better. Not that I am in favour of the marriage ending either, that is a pile of crap too.

It's kinda interesting even though I don't really like it.

It's like he's reliving the death of Uncle Ben, except he's conscious of him being the cause during May's death and has the ability to directly change it. I think I finally get why he's so stubborn about not giving up on her. I wish he wouldn't sacrifice MJ for it though...

I'm betting that Peter chooses to keep Aunt May and end the marriage, because in some preview art for Brand New Day, Peter is all alone in an apartment....but I think that would be a very stupid choice

Why oh why doesn't Peter use Doctor Doom's time platform and stop his past self from unmasking?

It ain't quite like Uncle Ben because Aunt May pushed him to do it and Mary Jane was written out of character (like Peter) and liked the idea too.

Then again Peter has been written out of character for the last 4 years minus Dan Slott and the Annual Spectacular this year.

So **** it. Oh well.

Heh, I'm glad lots of you guys appreciate that PP has been written out of character for some time.

This is how pointlesss JMS writing is. The illusion that the story was going to go anywhere is gone. The Unmasking could of been a lot of fun in a writer than understood who Spider-man is. Really it could of been.

'cept any writer who actually understands who Spidey is- knows unmasking would never be an option for him.

Hey I know, why don't we write Peter Parker and Spider-Man completely out of character for 8 years.

Oh, that happened already. Whoops :whatever:

I'd rather follow the adventures of Zombie Spidey than 616 Spidey right now.

That's just great. So he'll get to keep his precious Aunt May who'll probably die of natural causes a few months from now anyway. That alone is reason enough to have him stick with MJ, she'll be with him long after May is gone. If he for some reason agrees to spare May, who will be there for him when she kicks the bucket. And how do you explain to all the people who only know of Spidey's life through the movies. I mean, they mostly focased on Pete and MJ. Aunt May's role in the movies was minor compared to MJ's.

Logic would dictate that, but logic does not factor into ASM these days.
The characters are not real people, so Marvel can make em live as long as they see fit.

If there was logic in comics Aunt May would have died from any of her heart attacks sometime back in the 60's or 70's. It's funny how she seems so much stronger and healthier today than 30, 40 years ago. I suppose she could be a clone or a skrull. ;)

...they better not end the spidey mj marrige thing..i was be pissed if they do. specially like this.

I've just heard speculation... that's the first confirmation I've read from the horses' mouth. :(

What a crock of crap.

I absolutely HATE that they are going off in this direction and adding insult to injury, it's totally RIDICULOUS!

I know they have been SO obviously TRYING to set this up... with Peter's wild-eyed, oddly crazed desperation... willing to do ANYTHING... cross any line... even to sacrifice his own moral standards and the love he shares with Mary Jane.

What UTTER out-of-character BS!!

I've HAD it up to here! *holding my hand over my head*

I'm not going to watch, excuse me, READ this train wreck. It's been bad enough witnessing the wheels coming off one stupid story arc after anOTHER...

I apologized to my comic book guy last week... said I wouldn't be in much anymore. I've given up ASM, will probably only get USM in collected hardback (from Amazon) and SMLMJ is on hiatus for who knows how long.

Thanks a lot JQ... you arrogant jerk! You have ruined Spider-Man for me.

And BTW... when I talked to my comic book guy he agreed... it's stupid.

But, he said, Peter and MJ will just end up finding each other again and that process and hope will keep people stringing along.

I don't know if he looked surprised or worried when I told him that the "process" and hope of seeing the couple reunited didn't interest me AT ALL, because we KNOW that as long as "Joey anti-marriage Q" is in charge there is NO WAY he is going to let the marriage return. SO WHAT IS THE FREAKING POINT!?

Peter dating again?! Ugh. MJ as "Jackpot"?! Double UGH. Love triangles, shack-ups and all the other disgusting results of this decision... how tedious.

So no... I have no interest in THAT going on AD NAUSEAM.

The arrogance and wrongheadedness of this direction... over and IN-SPITE of the strong objections of most fans... It makes me so angry I could spit. And it's a deal killer.

Peter is the star of the show, but his relationship with MJ is the biggest highlight for me. It was the spice that made the rest delicious... or tolerable, depending on the story. I've already read all the stuff that went before. I can't go back.

Amen.

The thing that twists my grapes about all of this is that JQ is doing all this becausew it's how HE feels Spider-man should be. He's ignoring the fans, he's ignoring the past, he's ignoring even Stan Lee's intentions for the character. JQ had REPEATEDLY stated that he wants Peter Parker to be an ageless "Charlie Brown" type character who never ages throughout his history. It's annoying....and stupid.

Like you said, Cap, it's not like the mindwipe will make THE FANS forget that Peter and MJ were married, or how they got together, or anything else. He and MJ are no longer married...only to date again? Yeah....and then what?! Get married again?!?! Perhaps they can even try nad have kids and Marvel can forget/kill off the baby again?!??!?! **** THAT!! I've read through all that, already. Why do we need to repeat and rehash that which was done already by FAR BETTER WRITERS?!?! It's like JQ went from moving Marvel forward to keeping it stagnant.

The worst thing is, when sales SPIKE dramatically with Brand New Day, and they will, simply because of Dan Slott and Steve McNiven and the promise of no more JMS, JQ will begin his rant about how "fans don't know what they want", and how he was "right all along". Yeah....then how come the X-books are unreadable? What if i want to read about Captain America, who was killed? What it I want to read about Spider-Man and his struggle to maintain a normal life....only to have the "powers that be" hit the reset button every time they make a mistake? Guess I'll have to go back and read some back issues or a TPB or an Essential volume or a Marvel Masterwork....because, so long as Marvel is under the current regime, we're going to hav eto eat whatever Joey Q-baby feeds us.

As always, for those who will inevitably spout the tired adage of "Let's wait and see what happens", I appreciate your optimism, but I got burned with "Sins Past", I got blistered with "The Other", and I got scalded beyond recognition with the "Unmasking"....I"m not going to be burned alive again "hoping" JQ decides to do something FOR the fans instead of doing somethign TO the fans.

I figured that would be your reaction Captivated and I completely agree. And what's even more maddening about this, besides the fact that Joe Q knows full well how readers feel about this but yet is probably going ahead with it anyway, is that this appears to have been JMS' and Marvel's goal with his run all along.

He takes Spider-Man as far away as possible from his "status quo" as possible to the point where the character is so backed into a corner that the only way to get things "back to normal" is for there to be a magical mindwipe or alteration of the past. It's one thing if Spidey had gotten to this point by accident, but to do so deliberately?

Talk about a slap in the face: to have numerous readers follow the development of Spidey all the developments good and bad he's put through, and then to just finish it off by essentially saying "HA HA, it's was all a dream. Aren't I a genius?" That to me not only validates JMS as a hack on the worst order but very revealing about how Marvel regards their own fans. They're banking on the idea that even after all this, readers will pick up Spider-Man comics because they're promising a "back to basics" approach, having talent with an increasing fan base work on the books, and offer their A-list Spidey title three times a month, which also means they'll be paying three times as much for it.

And the sad thing is, people will. I guess "Marvel Zombies" really is synonymous with "suckers."
