in the first spidey movie, i think that there was a reference to eddie brock in it. The first time we see jjj, i think Brock is mentioned? I think it is said that "We have had eddie out all week" Im i correct to assume that they were talking about eddie brock or just some other person?

At the time, I'm sure it was a little bone they were throwing to the fans, but story-wise, it's meaning has probably been changed so that it's a different Eddie.

It was more than that, they had a guy cast as Eddie Brock and he had a scene with Peter and JJJ, which needless to say, got cut. Then later, the guy did an interview saying if a Venom movie ever got made, they knew they'd pass him up and hand his role to someone famous. It must hurt to be so right.

i saw the movie last night again, and he says "we cant get a decent picture, eddies ben on it for weeks" and thats all about brock in the movie

a long time ago i remember seeing on imdb, the name of the actor of eddie, and i just looked now under the first movie and couldn't find him.

Eddie Brock was never going to be in SM1.

Sam hates the character, c'mon now.

I think it originated from either Rosenberg or Chabon's rewrite. Either way it was a throwaway nod to the fans.

But it is so small it is not really a contiinuity error. And who is to say that the Bugle in the course of 3-4 years (the length I figure the trilogy roughly takes place in with a 2 year gap between teh first two and a one year gap between SM2 and SM3) that a major newspaper could not have hired two photographers named Eddie?

Seriously.

thats what i was gonna say. i never really thought it wasa brock for the reason of the symbiote coming that early in the series of movies would ahve killed it for critics

yes he was, there was in fact a short scene with him filmed, and the actor has done interviews about it...the scene was also in the novelisation.

I hope for the Spider-Man 3 DVD, that the scene is on Disc 2 or something. It'd be kinda cool.

It's funny to think about it this way though lol:
SM1:
Robbie: Eddie's been on it for weeks, we can barley get a glimpse of him.

SM3: *Eddie comes in*
JJ: Who's this?
Robbie: You hired him last week.

lol.
