This past season was easily the best the sgow has offered and some of the most amazing tv I've watched. That said, the finale was a disappointment.

For those saying Megan is nothing like Betty. Go back and watch the first season. Remember Betty before her "enlightenment."

Megan is a lot like Betty. She is just more outwardly whiny because of the cynical nature of her parents and the time she grew up. But she still has the facade, just not as a 50s housewife, and she has the entitlement. Watch the scene with her crying in her bed about not getting what she wanted or how she looked at the commercial shoot. Her willingness to stab her friend in the back, picking a profession based around outer beauty. It is Betty 2.0, just before the full Don Draper effect has taken hold.

How they foreshadowed this season's death: http://video.vulture.com/video/A-Death-Foretold-Foreshadowing

The noose Don drew I picked up on immediately, not the other hints though. THe "I'll be here the rest of my life" line is so sad now

Good vid, although I think some of that stuff may be a stretch and slightly coincidental. It's all about interpretation I suppose....

I knew something big was going to happen with Lane just because of his role in S5. He was used and focused on quite a bit and the second he embezzled money, you just knew it was going to end one of two way, both ending with him leaving the show.

Anyone find it funny that Peggy's new office seems to only include one room and three other people in the entire building.

So this season in general was mostly a big drag for me. The finale I won't even speak of. :(

How many people do we see in Don's office for one scene? Anywhere from 1-4 people so I didn't find it funny. We've only see Ted's office as well and not the entire agency at CGC but it seemed bigger than SCDP (before they got that second floor). With CGC taking over a tobacco account (Virgina Slims) they'll likely get a second floor as well.

I didn't mean her office, but the offices of her new company. Peggy's new job feels like one of the first actual attempts at cost cutting.

Its the last episode of the season for one scene and they spent $250,000 on a Beatles track, they're not going to splurge or even have the ability on creating a new agency for Peggy. Wait for season six.

How does that change how it looked? It looked and felt like there was nothing beyond that door.

You follow her out of that door to the rest of the floor.

So you wanted an open space and they gave you a hallway?

More than half of the SCDP offices open to a hallway.

That's TV, that's cable TV on a period show, they have tight budgets.

"We can build an open space but then we can't rent a movie theatre."

I have watched every episode of this show. It never felt like that before. The word budget never crossed my mind watching this. Then this season you could feel they were waiting to chop someone's head off, Betty disappeared and Peggy doesn't have an office building.

Betty disappeared because the actress playing her was pregnant and gave birth during production of the fifth season. There was also a new Mrs.Draper to focus on.

The problem with your theory on January Jones is that she appears in the second episode wearing a fat-suit. Her pregnancy didn't really play a part.

Megan can go jump in a lake. Pare has given us the worst actress/character combo by far in this shows history. Can't wait for Don to finish ruining her life.

That explains missing some filming. I never expected her in the two hour premier. That doesn't explain the long absences later in filming or the suit.

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sun., Sep. 23 on ABC.

Mad Men did have an outstanding fifth season and could go for the record with a fifth straight Best Drama Win but they haven strong competition with Breaking Bad and Homeland. Having the season air when submissions were voted on seemed to help Jared Harris earn a nomination and Julia Ormond. Great to see him get recognized for a memorable and sad episode. They dominated the writing categories again.

17 nominations, that's fantastic. Don't think however they'll take home any acting wins this year except I'm thinking Ormand, Harris is pretty close too but even then Esposito and Dinklage are favorites in that category. I'm rooting for BB or Homeland to give Mad Men a run for its money but if any show deserves to win the Best Drama for the fifth time in a row it's Mad Men.

Mad Men season six will be premiering on April 7th.
