Should Spider-man fight a super-criminal for the opening of every movie?

I think it's a great way to hit the ground running and a perfect fit for the Spidey universe.

For the second and third film, yes.

First film...nah. Make the arrival of super villains be a part of the plot and not yet an everyday occurrence.

agree with death head. if they start it off with some sort of fight, just have spiderman taking out bank robbers or something.

Yeah I like that idea, kinda like they did in spectacular spider-man, he was already a superhero and the first episode it shows him taking down some robbers.

Supervillains could be the next movies, and it will give us a chance to see some villains that wouldnt necessarily work for a whole movie.

nah not for the first film!
i was thinking as they set up the main villians story in the first they could have spidey stop shocker from robbin a bank as his first major fight...but idk if i want every movie to after the first to start off with fights

I would like the movie to start with the final showdown and then you go back and show the events that lead to this final encounter.

It'd be good to start off the first one halfway through a fight with someone like Shocker - that kinda calibre, anyway. Spidey's flipping and dodging blasts from Shocker, wisecracking, like a red and blue ping pong ball around the room. He jumps and sticks to a wall and wonders how he ended up doing what he does. Cut to a small retelling of his origin, and then just as you've been drawn into the backstory -BANG! - Shocker blasts again and Spidey comes out of his daydream, flips, kicks some padded arse, takes a picture, and then runs to school with maybe a bit of singed hair.

Action, origin, and all in five or ten minutes.

It might serve to avoid a retelling of his origin. Have Spider-Man as an urban legend. As the movie moves along, the origin can be revealed.

I think the Spider-Man franchise has done enough to let the general public know about Peter's origin story.

The Nolan reboots were different as the Burton/Schumacher did very little to show how he became Batman.

That being said, it might serve the movie well to show that he is still getting used to his powers. USM made good mention in the first 50 issues about how Peter, although gifted with superhuman strength and agility, had virtually no fighting skills. This becomes an obstacle when he starts fighting super powered mercenaries (Silver Sable)

I would have it start like the first episode of "Spectacular Spider-Man" with either crooks trying to get away on a helicopter and Spidey stops them or....

Start it off with a gang called "The Enforcers" but no special powers, suits, or whatever given to them. Just have Ox, Fancy Dan, and Montanna be bank-robbers and Spidey foils their heist. Spider-Man chases them through the streets as they're driving an armored car.

A fight ensues. Spider-Man saves the day.

There's your opening action-sequence.

I don't like the idea of the Enforcers as bank robbers. They should be mercs hired to take down Spidey, like in SSM and the comics.

I swear, if this movie is just like Spectacular Spider-Man, I will be one happy camper.

Maybe a street thug or someone simple, not a super villian.

I just can't see them holding their own movie. A simple in and out is what I'd do with them.

I mean are they really that popular characters compared to Mysterio, Vulture, Electro, Green Goblin, Dock Ock? No.

I would love a Casino Royale intro approach in this reboot, maybe with Rhino or Shocker.

Yeah, start the non-origin movies with a super-powered foe who's powers do not have to be explained away, minor foes who use tech.

I would love to see one opening with the Rocket Racer, just like his 1st appearance in the books.
Kind of humourous and fast paced opening with good action.

or spidey in a warehouse full of thugs , bouncing around hitting out with the quips while the camera clicks away in the background.

it has to be done this way at least once.

what about, an opening fight scene, between a super-criminal and the cops failing to take him down...

to show the increase in the evolution in bad guys, and the inability of regular law enforcement to keep up with it, establishing a world that's clearly in need of a superhero

I like this idea. The origin story(sm1) will have been 10 years ago when this movie comes out, so we need to tell it, but it really doesn't have to be too drastic.

I like this idea. I've got a different approach to this though. Have the movie start with this scenario but when it cuts to the flashback, it will show his origins in a montage while playing the opening credits. When the opening credits end, it cuts back to the action/defeating Shocker.

Didn't say that, they should be henchmen to a main villain mob boss. I'd love to see a small-scale gang war in the first reboot movie with Vulture and Shocker thrown in.

I don't get why there's this mentality that there can't be an opening Spidey/supervillain battle in an 'origin movie'. You guys surely have seen the animated series, right? They showcased Spidey being Spidey long before they revealed his origin. Why does the origin have to come first? Why can't it be a compelling flashback or something? ;P

we dont need an origin, maybe a lil flashback, but no origin

With an 80 million dollar budget??? Are you kidding? They'll blow the whole budget in the first ten minutes. The rest of the film with be 2 hours of him sewing his costume and pouting over girls.

Normally, I love the idea. Lethal Weapon started their sequels the same way. Wiz bang... draw you in.

I have tremendously low expectations for this film. Ultimate Line + LOW budget can't equal anything worth a damn. This coming from a huge Marvel man.

you know, what I was almost thinking, would be a neat way of retelling the origin, (in something of a flash back style story)... The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man (or the "make a wish" episode of the TAS with that Tina girl)...have spidey telling his origin to his number 1# fan

Heh, I had this idea a few days ago. It would be cool. I could dig it. But not for the first film. Maybe the first film can start with him stopping a few crooks. Captain Stacy and Dewolf and other cops arrive after the thugs have been stopped and find the stolen money bag hanging from a web then some of the dropped dollar bills hanging individually from webs as well. Stacy finds a letter saying "Courtesy Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" and BAM. Credits or just the title.
