He can make the burning skin permanent, making Mark a freak for the rest of his life. And the fact that Spider-Man humiliatingly assured his arrest in the past episode didn't help either.

I get that, but if he's so worried about being stuck in that form, he can always go back to the doc who injected him in the first place and ask him for the cure, it's not like he's completely helpless, powers or not that way his actions will be rightly justified.

How he would find him? They did the experiment in an abandoned police station, not in Warren's lab. Besides, if the form is made permanent, there may be no way of removing it. There may be no cure at all. For now Mark is Gobby's b*tch.

For all we know, Goblin may be lying or maybe he just meant he won't press the "Turn off" switch. Either way, successful or not, just doing the right thing would make sense for Mark, since technically he isn't a bad guy at heart.

Define the right thing. Risking to become a freak for life to save (or at least to not help kill) the man who put him in jail doesn't cut it, IMO.

Mark can make the choice not to take part but most people have a sense of self preservation and since he doesn't know what GG can do it makes sense that he does attack Spidey. I doubt he really even understands what has happened to him so it also makes sense that he does what he is told.

That was a great episode.
I suppose that since Black Cat's father killed Uncle Ben and he decided to stay in prison because of that, the naughty relationship between Cat and Spidey came to an end. There is too much bad blood between them now.

I'm still convinced that the Green Goblin in Season 2 is combination between Harry doing the work and Norman making the plans.

i disagree, she still have feelings for him, as you can see when she sees him being attacked and come back in his defense, just like in the comics felicia still has feelings for spidey, but in this case she won't return, as the hiatus period of her in the comics,if we got more seasons i would see her coming into peter life out of the suit in season 4.

This episode is taking it's sweet time to get on YouTube!!!

I don't know. She saved him, but she also blamed him that her father was left in prison. She probably defended him because she doesn't hate him and doesn't want to see him blown to pieces, but I doubt that she wants to play the naughty burglar around him anymore. And even more, I doubt that Spidey will be thrilled to make-up with the daughter of the man who killed Uncle Ben. It's too awkward on far too many levels now.

ATTENTION!: i need a template for spectacular spiderman for the spiderman movie network boards, not spiderman, just a person in their undies,in the style of spectacular spiderman, a hi res render of molten man at the end of that episode would be perfect, when he turned back to himself, that would probably be good, but i need one so thanks in advance!

Ok, I just saw this episode. It was terrific. Vast improvement over the previous one.

Great action, great drama, the mystery over whether Norman or Harry is the Goblin continues. I wasn't wild about the plot device regarding Black Cat's father. But it's a minor quibble.

I give it 9/10. Bring on the season finale.

By the way, if anyone is sick of waiting for this episode to go on YouTube, here ya go: http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/action_adventure/watch/v180229494W7rKA5m

Thank you so much Joker. Appreciate that.

LOL at Jonah. I've never heard anyone but me use the word "reprobate" outside a Bad Religion song.

It's not that hard to define. But besides that, I'm merely speaking about sensible thing to do. Knowing what the type of person he is, it makes sense for him to go after people who turned him into this freak, Spider-Man should be the last person he would want to mess with, Spidey putting him jail isn't the worst thing to happen to him. Anyways, he's not that important of a character to be debating about :), I mean I had never seen or known much about Molten-Man until now.

My point was that from his point of view, it's far easier if he does what Gobby wants, because he holds all the cards. After all, his own life is more important than Spider-Man's in his own eyes, which the most normal thing in the world. Besides, he did object to doing Gobby's dirty work, until he reminded him who's the boss. But yeah, you're right - he's not that important of a character.

^ O you have a valid point too Ricewind, I never dismissed that. I'm merely giving my perspective on how he should've acted out.

Just saw it, how many times must I say it, but the writing in this show is just outstanding. Lots of twists and plenty of action.

Wonder how the Black Cat thing will play out. And Beck, are they ever gonna catch him?
JJJ continues to get more pissed with each passing episode, we kinda know where they are going with that one, don't we.

Finally the showdown and revelation we all been waitin on is coming. Harry or Norman.
As Molten Man might say, My money is on Norman. I'll take that bet. LOL

Joker thanks so much for the link to the episode, you rock

this was an excellent episode... by far easily the best spider-man incarnation in a non-comic medium I've seen... this I find is to spidey as BTAS was to batman... excellent episode!

Thanks, Joker!

"Opening Night" was the best episode ever! What an outstanding episode. It delivered on all fronts.

It was wonderful to see more of Black Cat, to hear Hobie speak, to see the Felicia Hardy side of Black Cat, and to watch an onslaught of villains attack Spidey.

It was somewhat sad, though, that Spidey and Black Cat's relationship has been met with a tragic bump in the road. For the sake of character development, neither of them should forget about the events of this episode when they meet up again, but I do hope they're able to be partners in the future without what happened in this episode getting in the way of their friendship. I didn't mind the fact that they changed the identity of Uncle Ben's murderer for this show, since the alias they came up with works so much better than having Sandman be Ben's killer, and is also a homage to a certain character from the comics: Jessica, a romantic interest of Spiderman's clone (Ben Reilly).

The juxtaposition of the play with the action was well done, though it's odd that Green Goblin was subconsciously quoting the play lines... How will they explain that one if Gobby turns out to be Norman?

Ah, Mysterio showed up. Thank goodness. Except... it was a robot. Spidey was right at the end of "Reinforcement"! All the same, it was nice to have Mysterio in the episode in some capacity. Likewise for the Enforcers and Silvermane, who weren't in costume, yet their presence was welcome. I hope "Final Curtain" can top this.

My only complaints are that it's arguably too soon to be having a rogues gallery episode (the Sinister Six episodes aside), and that it looks as though my idea for the season 3 finale won't come true now... I was hoping for an adaptation of Amazing Spiderman 200, with Uncle Ben's killer meeting his final fate in that episode and MJ telling Peter that she's known his secret since the night of Ben's death.

[BLACKOUT]I can't believe no one mentioned Montana finally using a lasso.
Anyway I can't even describe how great this episode flowed. Imo, the Shakespeare lines worked much better than in Growing Pains, although I liked it in that episode as well. I think the story with Walter Hardy has a lot of potential; I hope his and Felicia's stories are further expanded on. Another highlight for me was the villain interaction because it's always fun seeing the different dynamics together. The Goblin was in top form this episode, with his manipulation, which was great.[/BLACKOUT]

Thanks for the link to the episode cant wait to watch it after it loads.

Definately one of the best episodes of the season, up there with Gangland, Shear Strength and Identity Crisis. I thought the connections with Peter and Balck Cat were done very well and despite her father doing the right thing, Felica will hate him for a long time. The ryhming was brilliant and Jameson was.... well Jameson. Nice to show the relent to fight from Mark. HOBIE SPOKE!!!!!! I know that next episode we will see some Peter and Liz torture (he never came to the show.) :csad: But I am still hoping we get to see some loose ends done. I'm happy that Silvermane and Mark returned, nice for them to have some more screen time. Montanna uses a whip, whoopy:woot: Gargoyles were halarious and I loved how Jameson loved them while Pete hated them. I think all the other crooks are mainly in the vault but there was no need for them.

Quotes:

Spiderman: I hate these gargoyles!

J.J: I love these guys!
-

Spiderman: I think the words you are looking for is get him.

Rhino: Get him!

Montanna: Get him!

Silvermane: Get him!

Gargoyle: Pistachio!
-

Jameson: It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

Stacey: To what end Jonah?

Jameson: TO RAISE MY BLOOD PRESSURE!!!
-

Green Goblin: That is it! Goblin is tired of thugs.... and rhyming.

9-10/10, can't decide

Yea i havent finished the episode fully yet, on slow internet connection here at school so vid loading take forever to fully load. So far i have enjoyed it alot and i agree one of the best episodes of the season. I will post more later tonight.

One more episode until season two is over.:csad:

This episode had everything: action, humor, and drama. The action was done well. Nice to see some of the old villains attacking Spider-Man.

Uncle Ben's killer is Black Cat's father?! Wow, didn't expect that. I don't mind the change, anyway. It seems Black Cat's feelings towards Spider-Man is gone. Man, that sucks! I was really hoping that Spider-Man can get it on with Black Cat. I hope Black Cat can get over her dad being in jail. After all, it was his choice to stay, even though Black Cat thinks Spider-Man influenced him.

Hobie Brown finally gets to talk! It's about time! And as for Liz...it's going to be over between her and Peter. After all, Peter is going to dump Liz in the next episode. Sad, really. It seems like both Peter and Spider-Man are losing their current relationships (Liz and Black Cat, respectively).

Green Goblin finally reveals himself to Spider-Man, letting him know that he's back in town and badder than ever! Really like the rhymes that Green Goblin used. I cannot wait until Green Goblin takes on Spider-Man. Next episode will be very exciting!

As always, 10/10!
