So, what did everyone think of the fight between Batman and Superman? I thought it was awesome! Easily my favorite part from the movie :)

******ed.

What I thought was going to be a conflict of methods and interpretations about what it means to be a hero, got reduced to Mr. Peach Man controlling everything. It wasn't even subtle manipulation, it was overt and sheer stupidity.

I really thought Batman was gonna murder Superman with the spear, the heavy handed imagery and christian symbolism just begged to have Batman as the roman soldier who pierces the crucified Jesus.

75 years of history and that was apparently the best they could muster. I genuinely thought there were going to be multiple fights between them.

It was great very brutal nothing held back
Could have lasted longer imo but yeah I liked it

Bit short and ended quite abruptly.. but Fun to watch.

Complete wasted opportunity.

Not to mention we saw 80% of it in the trailers.

Don't forget ridiculous. Like when batman swings a 200+ LBS man around on a grapple gun cord. And yes like you said, they showed everything in the damn trailers.

This movie was a pathetic mess. Sad part was Hack Snyder was trying.

Even the costumes are cartoon sculpted. Homoerotic even. Just as over the top as Shumacher only without nipples. The MOS costume wasn't THIS overly sculpted.

The fight was okay, nothing to write home about, but not bad either.

I would have preferred more depth to the fight however. I always thought the "v" in BvS was not just about two guys duking it out in physical combat, but about the battle of two contrasting ideas of what it means to be a hero, or what sort of hero do the people of the world need.

Batman and Superman are completely different characters and how they go about the business of being a hero should always comes into conflict. Strangely enough, what I was expecting was something along the lines of what Daredevil season 2 discussed, the contrast of DD's methods and the Punisher's methods. A little bit of that is in BvS, but I was hoping it would be the storyline behind their battle. As it turns out, it wasn't, and their reason for fighting was worse than cliche. That made the actual fighting less than interesting.

It was only there because they needed it to be there. Fan service. No actual logical reason for the fight. First Supes frets he might have to kill Batman to Lois and then clearly is only there to talk when he shows up.

...Except that he somehow starts punching Batman and throwing him all over the place for no logical reason. Nice conversation Supes....very productive. He could mutter half a sentence at the end and that was all it took to get Batman on his side but couldn't say any of that before the fight? Nice writing. Similar to how Supes just wrecks Batman's car and threatens him the first time they have a confrontation instead of a simple conversation. Gotta wedge that fight in there though whether it makes sense or not.

And Supes was of course too dumb to figure out that gun was going to weaken him when Bats fired it the SECOND time. Avoiding it would have been simple. Easier to write Superman as an idiot than come up with something more clever and logical.

Of course Batman is an idiot too. He's a member of the dumb portion of the population who fall for the smear campaign against Supes. Batman is supposed to be this genius detective but can't even figure out the character of the guy he's obsessed with for months? ...an obsession which is rooted in what Bats believes about Supes' character?

None of it made sense.

Choreography was good for the angle they were going for, but it wasn't a very good angle. I mean come on, the motivation for Batman was strong, but Superman's heart wasn't in it in the first place. Of course he was going to lose.

We needed better reasons for them to throw down.

Can hardly even call it a fight. It's Batman laying a smackdown, making him look like a villain and Superman like a freaking wuss.

If there was ONE THING I expected Snyder to deliver it was this. What the hell happened with this movie...

It had a lot of smashing in it. Beyond that, it was pretty unremarkable.

I thought it was solid but for a movie called Batman v Superman it was a bit underwhelming and short. Batman vs the thugs holding Martha and the Trinity vs. Doomsday were both better action sequences.

Just focusing simply on the fight it was awesome but too short. I mean did it even last ten minutes?

Best bit though was when [BLACKOUT]Batman was beaten on a weakened Superman and the Kryptonite gas wore off and sudenly the punches weren't effecting Superman. He then gave Batman a look and Batman **** himself[/BLACKOUT].

The sink was great.

I'm still mulling over the logic of it. I buy that Batman would go after him. This wasn't just about Superman, this was about Batman's fears and demons.

They showed Superman trying to reason, and Bruce not giving him a chance to. I think you kind of have to buy into the conceit that Superman is almost immediately weakened by Kryptonite. He's probably thinking survival for much of the time. And that's what we're shown as well.

The fight itself was pretty good, well shot, nice use of their respective abilities, and a nice juxtaposition of their reasons for combat and their methods, with Superman obviously holding back, etc. There was good emotion and reactions throughout, far more than say, Superman VS Zod in MAN OF STEEL, even if the action wasn't as impressive overall. Snyder learned there.

The end of it was very well done. Bruce obviously didn't really WANT to do what he was going to do there. Cheesy or not, I think the fight ended for the only and most fitting reason it could. That was a beautiful moment, though I don't know that we needed that callback to the beginning.

Nice overview, The Guard. Feeling the same.

I do like the juxtaposition of Superman not wanting to fight, and Batman not giving him the chance not to. And though Batman beat the crap out of Superman, it's only because he cheated, because Superman had more pressing concerns. So in a moral sense, Superman won the fight. Nice resolution there, too.

I thought it was directed fairly and squarely. I expected both hero's to have their moments, and we got that. As a Superman fan, I was okay by the way it was handled and I was satisfied with the dialogue and context of their fight. Plus, the tie-in I won't mention brought tears to my eyes. It was an incredible sense of validation for me how that played out. I didn't want an over done fight that would of got nowhere for round 2. I liked it a lot. I never once felt Bruce or Clark were out of line givin' both their reasoning's. Batman was more brutal, but Supes seemed more on the throttled side of things, which I thought Superman would do. He had a few angry punch's, but nothing that made it seem like he was going to hurt Bruce if he knew it would do major damage. The armored suit did Bats well.

By the time the movie got to the fight I was so damn mad about everything else that it fell in line with everything else and I didnt care much about it. We saw damn near every piece of action in the clips released already.

It wasnt even about knowing the story, I read spoilers prior to just about every movie I see, it was just the fact over and over that "Ive seen all of this" and it wasnt good enough to make me get over it.

I did however not read any of the RT or critic reviews.

1 minute its a full on fight, the next minute Batman has caught an Uber to get Martha. THAT scene was awesome, but again.....saw it already.

I must have benefited from staying away from everything after the second trailer.

If staying away means this overall great experience in the theater (that I didn't get for the first viewing of Man of Steel) then I'm always going to now. I pat myself on the back for doing what was tough and not watching trailers;clips, etc. Worth it on my end.

We saw most of it in the trailer. The fight was fine, nothing spectacular. :(
My favorite part was the beginning where Batman had set the traps for Superman.

In agreement with all of the above.

[BLACKOUT]Bruce pretty much baited Superman the entire way. I liked that concept the most. I also like the fact that Bats was so in tune of kicking a#$ that he refused to listen to Clark's reasoning. I'm so glad we got that in that moment instead of all BROOD BROOD BROOD. The fight was written with a lot of care IMO.[/BLACKOUT]
