Oprah for president?

I didn't watch the golden globes but it seems, with her speech, there's a lot of buzz around her campaigning in 2020.

I've heard people say, because she's inexperienced and a celebrity, she's the same type of candidate as Trump. Well, it's not like every president who was a politician before getting elected has done a perfect job. And it's not like we've seen a TON of celebrity presidents anyway. Trump, Reagan, who else?

I for one would definitely vote for Oprah. First woman president, another black president. Progression.

The DNC needs legitimate candidates this time around, who have experience and know what they're doing. They also need to be liked (Read: Don't be Hillary) I'd love to see Oprah get involved with Get Out The Vote efforts, but running for POTUS? No thanks.

The fact that so many people would vote for her without asking this fundamental question does not bode well for this country. It is demonstrative of a country that treats politics as a sport instead of serious policy discussions.

I think whoever wins should be like Oprah in the sense that they've got a lot of heart, a lot of hope and they want positive optimistic things but I'm not sure Oprah is the one. It would be good to see someone with government experience

I'm fine with her running if she wants to, because unlike Trump, she actually IS a self-made business icon, and she's a SUCCESSFUL one. Now, that's not to say that she's my top choice; I would honestly prefer someone who has some experience working in government. Why is everyone creating this strawmen scenario? Ive been seeing it all week.

Yes, if it comes down to Trump vs Oprah, I shall bite my tongue and vote frigging Oprah, before leaving the country.

Irrelevant. Trust fund babies and self made billionaires have one thing in common: a vested interest in protecting the system that sustains their wealth.

How about getting someone who is of at least reasonable intelligence and has a good understanding of how Washington and politics work, is not racist, believes in evidence that is presented to them like global warming and things of that nature, has compassion for those that have less through no fault of their own, with a wife/husband that actually likes them...
