I’m sure you’re aware of Hollywood’s overuse of floating heads on movie posters… but have you noticed the excessive use of orange/blue contrast on theatrical one-sheets? David Chen happened to come across this comic illustrating the Blue/orange contrast, although I’m not sure where it originated or who created it. After the jump you will see a ton of examples of orange/blue contrast, however I must warn you — as the comic says, once you see it, you’ll notice it everywhere

While it is overused, I admit it is eye-catching.

Just noticed that comic uses a yellow to blue contrast on the last panel.

blue and orange are very attractive complimentary colors. it's not just on movie posters. look at many websites and advertisements and you'll see the same thing. we always see blue and orange in the sky...so i suppose the writer of that article would think God is overusing blue and orange also...

^
lmao coming from the guy with an orange blue avatar...

but yeah orange and blue are hot and cool colors...
used to show good vs. evil or fantasy vs. reality.

the contrast is also eye catching too...

Like I said in the site, they should make a Deathstroke movie. What better place to use orange and blue?

It's a good contrast because Blue and Orange are total opposites on the color wheel, and it's more neutral for seasons as opposed to Yellow/Purple or Red/Green

i like a black/orange deathstroke better lol

opposites attract.

also see...

purple/ green
black/ white

^ purple and green aren't opposites they both have blue in them.

I guesse the graphic desingers in hollywood all went to U of I

that and red and green is to christmasy

The colours go well together, it's probably the best complimentary paring of them all in terms of catching the eye. Purple and Yellow generally don't look that great together, and Red and Green tend to look a bit weird when they are combined unless a third colour is added.

every decade has their own trend in posters... this decade should be no different lol

Hehe.

Also, notice how very few of these posters are actually worth a ****.

i dont know if im colorblind or something, but its more of blue and yellow to me...
