Orange is the new Black

The first episode of this season was (to me) boring as could be. But I am glad it picked up a bit.

Seemed this season focused a lot of "relationships". Piper was at least interesting.

I am glad [BLACKOUT]Soso[/BLACKOUT] is ok, she is one of my favorites even though she does not get much screen time. I thought it was kinda cool that Taystee's group took her in.

Season 3 didn't really gain any momentum until the last few eps.

Recently finished Season Two, now watching Season Three.

As of right now...
- I dislike Boo, a lot. She's my least favourite character. I don't know what it is about.
- I loved Pennsatucky in Season 1 but felt like she was missing from Season 2 quite a bit. Hope they focus on her some more.
- Piper and Alex are okay. I like them as characters but their never ending love story is growing tiresome.

Okay, after just watching Boo's backstory episode I have kinda grown to like her a little more. Funny how quick things can change.

I was gonna comment and say "wait until season 3!" Lol. Pairing her and Pennsatucky as buddies was great for both characters.

I had to google who Boo was. I watch this show and dont know what half the character's names are

Very much agreed, Mad Ones. The pairing is an unexpected, yet great, addition to the show.

And I hear you Havok83, it took me a while to grasp most of the names of the characters. There are probably few I still couldn't name in fact.

No early release for the ladies of Litchfield.

Netflix announced Friday that Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for three more seasons. The news comes in advance of the series’ season 4 debut on June 17.

Series creator and showrunner Jenji Kohan will continue at the helm for seasons 5, 6, and 7.

“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures,” said Kohan in a statement. “Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks, Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers … with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!”

Added Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix: “Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt. Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of Orange is the New Black, and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.”

Hmm could be good or bad depending on quality.

Shows often dip after their 4th season. They may have jumped the gun on this, especially as the premise lends itself to a start middle and end.

Her character is going to be in prison like 7 times longer than her real world counterpart ha.

3 more seasons seem to be a bit much.

Last season was kinda eh. Still good but not great. But we'll see. If the quality stays then I wont complain. Honestly I wont mind if Piper just leaves and we focus on everyone else

Curious to know what happened to the guard that got, what's her name pregnant and then vanished.

Binged this last night/early this morning.

First thoughts: Eh it was ok. I was bored through a lot of it. Piper just needs to stop. Her character/the panty plotline is so stupid, so annoying they just need to get rid of her but they wont. The new guards provided some interesting dynamic changes. The actor Brad William Henke who played Piscatella was really good.

It didn't pick up for me until the last 2 episodes.
Poussey was my favorite character since season 2 and I'm sad to see her go. Although she has not been that interesting since season 2.
As for the prison riot...I dont see how this story plays out and the series just goes back to what it was. And there are 2 or 3 more seasons left?

All in all it was ok. I'll watch the next season, but the show took a dip at season 3 and this is pretty much on par with that season

EDIT: I was also very surprised about them giving [BLACKOUT]That rapist guard, a redemption/sympathetic arc[/BLACKOUT] I'm surprised I havent seen more articles and social media "outrage" about it. But i suppose next season he'll go back to his own ways to show that people like him can put on front.

I had NO IDEA...NOOOOO IIIIDDDEEEAAA!!! That Elizabeth Rodriguez was only 2 years older than Daya!

I loved this season though, just finished it today at work, those last 2 episodes were just one shock after another. It was a major step up from S3.

I think ending with a 6th season would probably be perfect but they've set up the show now that it isn't all about Piper so it could go on for a good while with a revolving set of characters. Pipers story should come to a close though next season or by s6.

Just finished season 4. I really liked it. Not sure whether the ending is supposed to be a cliffhanger...

Finished it as well.

I thought they botched their Eric Garner/Sandra Bland allegory by making Poussey's murder be an accident by a sympathetic guard. Also, Daya getting the gun was suspenseful, but a bit random as well.

Was Laverne Cox busy? Even though she was locked at SHU for most of the season, they could've done more with that.

I think they were trying to show that while there are definitely bad cops/guards out there, there are also good ones who just don't know how to properly handle a situation so with that I was fine with it especially since it showed not everything is always so black/white

I miss Season one Pennsatucky :( She was so entertaining and interesting then, but now she has fallen victim to boring writing.

I'm on episode 11 of season 4 and I hate these new guards with a passion.

Got in 3 episodes before work this morning.

They need to get rid of Chapman and Laura Pepon. So useless

I didn't end up feeling much for this season.

Was oddly sad to see Piscatella die. He had some moments of humanity and I thought he shouldn't have gone that way. Meanwhile, I came out of this season really just wanting to get rid of Piper. She basically added nothing. I also ended up outright hating Tasti. I get why she did the things she did, but it wasn't enough for me to not end up disliking her for them more than anything.

Seems they may be taking things in a different direction next season, so I'm interested to see it, but considering how lackluster I found this one, I hope the infuse it with some change, or that this next one is the last one.
