Alright, I'm kind of confused. Which issue does Peter get organic webbing. Was it after Morlun killed him and brought back to life? Because if it is, how did the directors, game directors etc. get the idea for organic webbing?
Disassembled is when it happend.
I still like the idea of Organic webbing then the mechanical.
Organic webbing makes more sense, but the thing with mechanical web shooters, just proved how smart Peter was at such a young age.
Aloha

haha, that was 10 minutes faster than I predicted DT.
I'll keep this civil since the mods are very protective of you. He got organic webs years after building the mechanical ones. The fact he got organic webs down the line NEVER retconned the fact he built them in the first place. To put this in "braintrust" terms The mechanical webshooters happened the way you remember Peter just stopped wearing them after Disassembled.
AND after he got the organic webshooters they started going more in to how smart Peter still is and gave him a job as a scientist for Stark. Then progress was taken out of Spider-Man in a back alley with a coat hanger in OMD, and Peter's back to his only achievement being some web bracelets he made as a teenager.
As seen in ASM #546 (the first issue of BND), there's a scene where some smarty-pants professor type is interviewing the "Amazing Peter Parker" who he had heard was a genius from high school and could have had anything he wanted, yet there was nothing from Peter Parker (as far as the scientific world goes) and he asks Peter why???
And of course, Peter... thinking of all his Spider-Man battles... just rambles on about nothing, because he obviously cannot tell him the truth...
Like his Love Life... like his Scientific Knowledge... like ANYTHING in life that Peter Parker has access to... the Spectre of Spider-Man will always come between Peter Parker and his wants/needs in life.
And they got the idea for organic webbing from James Cameron's script from the 90s. It was because of the movies that they decided to give him organics in the comics.
Aloha,
Don't forget, Spider-Man 2099 also had organic webbing.

That just one of the things that always attracted me to his stories. He does all of these amazing things, saves so many people, invents so many cool things, etc yet he never gets credit for any of it. And even though he never gets the credit he deserves he still does what he does because it's right.

Aloha,
Every Spider-Man fan must have at least one change to Spidey over the decades that they absolutely HATE-Mine is Organic webbing.

He was smart before he was Spider-Man. He could make inventions that have nothing to do with Spider-Man.
Well, you see, that's why i don't see Pete as a hero anymore, because he no longer DOES do what is right.
And exactly where in my post that I state that he wasn't smart prior to being Spider-Man?
you'd think that "does whatever a spider can" he would spin webs, too. but no. he had to build himself webshooters.
Organic web makes more sense and, imo, it's also better. though, with the webshooters, he can come up with different kinds of "webs".
but, if I had to choose, I'd go with organic.
