    Hello everybody!

Hey, how do you organize your movies?
By genre? Alphabetical order? Maybe by years ("classic 80's films")?
Perhaps by color? They look nice on the shelf and might be entertaining to organize.
And what about the Marvel films? Do you organize them by release date order?
Or the Iron Man trilogy, and then the Cap trilogy, and so on?
Do you have labels? "Horror", "Action", "Comedy"?
And what's the deal with airplane food?

Oh, by director. Yeah, I didn't realize but I have them in that order too, just all of them under different genres.
Like, all of Fincher's films are together under drama/mystery. It gets a bit difficult if a director has things in different genres, like Spielberg.

I can see how that would be complicated.

I have a couple thousand DVDs...so I organize them several different ways. Off the top of my head, here is how I separate them. I take most out of their original boxes and put in plastic boxes that hold up to a 100 discs.

    Marvel
    DC
    War (WWI and WWII)
    War (Wars after WWII)
    Science Fiction
    Westerns
    Horror
Martial Arts (Samurai, Chinese, modern day)
    Sherlock Holmes
    Robin Hood
    Sword and sorcery and sandals
    Historical dramas/epics
Actor (John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, etc....)
    Franchises
    TV series

    Pretty much like I do.
Question, inside let's say the Marvel films, are those by release order, or title? Like Iron Man 1, 2 and 3 together, Cap 1, 2 and 3 together... or the MCU release order?

All pre MCU movies are together by character (example: 1940's Captain America serial, 80's Reb Brown CA TV movies, 90's Salinger CA movie.....Lundgren's Punisher, Jane's Punisher, Stevenson's Punisher....etc)......the MCU movies are lined up on a shelf in viewing order (IM, IH, T, IM2, CATFA, A, IM3, TDW, CATWS, AAoU, GotG, AM, CACW, DS, GotG2)....I also have the Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD series there with them, but not in technical viewing order. Of the Netflix Marvel shows, I only have been able to buy season 2 of DAREDEVIL....so he's with the other DVDs but not there in proper viewing order.

And animated movies and series are separated from live action.

I set groups for genre, and alphabetical order from there.
Films belonging to their own series I group based on release dates. Movie series like Star Wars I have organized in chronological order.

Mine is organised beyond meticulous, beyond what most would regard a 'regular' or 'normal' system.

Genre / Alphabetical / Year of Release / Then by Studio / Then by director's alphabetical surname.

To give you some indication of how :loco: I am in terms of ordering, I organise my books by numerical USBN's.

I organize by alphabetical. Those with "THE XYZ" get put after T's but before U's. Numbered films (like 28 days later) go first...

For ones that are linked (like the bourne collection) i try to keep them all together..

Broadly speaking by genre, then by sub-genre, then by studio, then by date.
