The original cut is pretty much awesome as it is. But watching the 2.1 DVD, its got good scenes that i wish stayed in the theatrical but some scenes are jarring [JJ Spidey and the Elevator scene for example] but the extended Peter Birthday scene is VERY good as is the train fight.

What one do you prefer? :o

The extended cut is better, come on, it's more Spidey. Theo nly thing I don't like is the fact that they actually changed the title to "2.1". Man, that bugs me so much.

Personally, I absoloutely love both versions, but I'm going with the original cut.

The 2.1 version is extra awesomeness which says something cause the original cut was awesome.

The original cut.

Too be honest, if they didn't change the elevator scene, I would pick the 2.1 version because it did have some nice extended scenes other than that.

I prefer the original cut overall. The 2.1 cut has some nice extra stuff in the fight scenes. And I liked the added scene with MJ explaining to her friend why she's marrying John.

But the rest of it felt unnecessary.

The 2.1 is nice, however, I personally prefer the original cut.

Overall, I prefer the original cut. Though the additional fight scenes in 2.1 are fun. As I absoluely loved the extra scene where Spidey and Ock go crashing into a window, and then shortly afterwards, right back out the window. However, the alterations during the "Raindrops keep falling on my head" scene in 2.1 wasnt really to my liking at all.

Agreed. LOVE the extra fight scenes, but everything else deserved to be cut. The elevator scene went on too long and the moment with J.J. in the Spidey suit was funny but was so awkward.

Original cut FTW. While 2.1 had some important scenes and some other great fun ones that weren't in the original cut, most of the extra stuff just dragged on abit.

Original.

I appreciate there being a 2.1, so we can see on what we missed out the first time around, but I think the original cut has a more natural flow to it. Though maybe that's just because I've seen the original more than the extended cut.

I'm torn. I like most of the additions in 2.1, but the original cut seems to flow better.

I think one of the best additions, funny enough, is the extended Doctor scene. Mostly because that's where we first hear "strong focus on what I want", so it makes the later scene more effective. I like it. :)

2.1. Not to take anything away from the theatrical cut, but in this case less is not more.

2.1

I like every scene in the 2.1 except the elevator scene. But if I have to have it see the other additions it's fine--I can grab a drink or go to the bathroom and not have to pause it.

And I concur: I never watch the theatrical anymore since they didn't cut anything out of the original to make the 2.1 Some movies they do.

Or course all this has the 3.1 hanging over it. But with the near announcement of #4--we'll likely see the 3.1 sometime in Spring 2011--just 2 1/2 years away!

I think you guys care more about the length then the content. They put more fighting footage in, stuff people complained about not making it in when the second movie came out. I mean, it was nice to get extensions of the fights, but some of the new CG footage didn't look all that marvelous.

I mean the Jameson bit was funny. The Vanessa Ferlito scene was OK. But the other alternate version of the elevater scene works no where near as well. There's a lot of other extensions, lines, beats, and bits that are restored and they don't really add that much.

The doctor scene. To me it changes the tone of the scene. Because when I first saw the scene, I thought, OK maybe this is like Peter's regular family doctor who he's seen before, and it's like Peter is visiting a guy he's met before. But in the extended version, the doctor I think turns out to be I think a university clinic guy, and it's clear he's meeting Peter for the first time. You see I like it the other way better, because it lets you infer a lot more about the character. I think the longer versions tells you stuff that really isn't important, and it's still just as effective in the theatrical cut.

Original cut, undoubtedly.

2.1 had some good scenes (extended birthday party scene, Vanessa Ferlito scene, fighting in the apartment) but it was otherwise too ridden with stupidity.

The JJ wearing the costume scene, the elevator scene, some stuff in the doctor scene (although some is good) and worst of all, Spidey getting hit by a train? What were they thinking? Did they actually think that was a good idea? On second thought, probably not, that's why it was cut.

Anyway, while I like some of the 2.1 stuff, I find the original cut superior because it flows far better and makes me cringe far less.

Original cut.

It flows better and some scenes are unnecessary...Some new scenes were cool though. (like JJ wearing the suit and the fight in the apartment.)

Easily the theatrical cut. Only 1 extended scene was worth keeping. The others were wise to cut.

Hmm-I loved it. And the cover was so awesome I wish it had been a poster.

It really emphasizes the conflict between him & Ock. It has a real comic book feel to it.

Definitely the original cut. Jameson in the suit? Give me a break.

I love both versions, I hope someday they release a DVD that has both versions on as that would be the best case scenario.

This should be a poll. The last times I've watched it it's been 2.1 also.

And I have to say that yeah that cover of 2.1 is like my favorite movie spidey image. I would totally buy a poster of that.
