Orson Welles's THE BATMAN

Not to be rude, but how can you fall for this? It's very well made, but it's made up of footage from the old film serials, "The Man Who Laughs" and other vintage films. Warner Bros. did not own DC Comics until the 1970s, and Orson Welles was never interested in Batman, ever.

That said, it's still an incredible piece.

Wells' Batman is a rumour I heard back in 2003. It was denied later though.

I know it was fake but its still amazing.

Welles was interested in Batman Warren Ellis even wrote an article on it.

Yeah, could have been false, but hot damn, that idea and the fact it never happened makes me cry a little inside. :csad:

Welles' Batman was an invention of Millar. Just a bit of fun. It is/was absolutely not real.

I hope nobody genuinely fell for this. It has clips from tons of famous films, so I don't know how anyone could.

Very, very interesting. Anyone have the article Ellis wrote?

Nevermind, it was Mark Millar.

oh, alright. Thanks very much. Very cool even if it is a hoax... especially for someone like me who is an afficionado of classic film! :yay:

It was a good hoax, many people fell for it.

So Martha Wayne goes to see a Zorro film dressed to the nines like Charles Foster Kane's first wife and brings Bruce dressed like Dennis the Menace?

How did this fool anyone? For even a second? :whatever:

Relax, its a joke and a reference to a hoax that happened a couple years ago.

That trailer was made after the hoax was revealed, the original hoax consisted of a few sketches and some bogus excerpts and such/

It's not supposed to fool anyone. It's supposed to illustrate what such a production could have looked like, and it works extremely well. Not having a proper Batman motion picture made in the era of film noir is a real missed opportunity.
