"Burton approached Sam Hamm, a comic book fan to write the screenplay.[3] Hamm decided not to use an origin story, feeling that flashbacks would be more suitable and that "unlocking the mystery" would become part of the storyline.[4] He reasoned, "You totally destroy your credibility if you show the literal process by which Bruce Wayne becomes Batman.""http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_(1989_film)#cite_note-Hamm-4

I just thought it was funny because Batman Begins apparently destroyed Nolan's "credibility" according to that.

Not saying I agree, i just found it humorous.

You don't think Nolan's approach was destroyed - apparently or not - by showing Batman's origin in detail. Hamm believed it could be better to keep Batman in the shadows and show his origin via flashbacks. And we're talking about aa comic-grounded Batman here mind you, not at all a realistic approach. He did it that way and in consequence he should show some conviction on the point.

For me it was Goyer's over-the-top dialogues which destroyed BB's credibility.

i didnt say i thought anyones credibility was ruined...I was just quoting something i thought was humorous. Didnt mean to start a debate here...

Then this thread is destined to.. what? no replies?

lol calm down El Payo, he's just expressing opinions.

btw, Katie Holmes' performance nearly destroyed Batman Begins

It's destined to not set up arguments with me because I wasn't taking the side of anyone. It's just a funny quirp up for discussion. Since I wasn't establishing ground on either side of what the quote discussed, I just didn't understand why it seemed you were arguing with me? lol

Neither did I.

I was agreeing with Hamm. But you are putting a statement from 20 years ago in front of a completely different context and approach.

But if it wasn't your idea for the thread, you could have posted "please refrain from disagreeing, just laugh at it as I do" in the original post.

it was just a quote. then after your post I decided to clarify:

I just thought it was funny because Batman Begins apparently destroyed Nolan's "credibility" according to that.

Sorry for all the confusion.
