“Our Flag Means Death” is loosely based on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet (Darby), a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate.

Bonnet was apparently an actual-datcual fop, supposedly driven to the sea to escape his nagging wife, whom Blackbeard took under his wing almost just for the sheer entertainment the man brought him.

They'll need to fictionalize alot if they're going to make a multi season series about Bonnet. He was only active for 2 years and part of that time he did nothing because he didn't wont to lose his pardon.

I took a Warner Bros studio tour the other day and they were getting ready for this show. I saw some props by the stage set. Pretty cool.

I still have to watch What We Do in the Shadows, but the trailer is giving off R-rated Muppet Treasure Island vibes, minus the Muppets. That doesn't sound like a compliment but it is to me.

This show is fantastic. Don't go in expecting What We Do in the Shadows, because it's definitely not the same kind of shot.

I'd say go in expecting a funny, sometimes dark, but mostly wholesome and interesting character driven comedy.
