as I was watching the Better Halves episode something hit me, something that has not been tackled yet are the characters' weakneses or downsides

it's been established that Isaac can only paint the future when he's all doped up, which makes it seem like a convenient weakness, but what about the others? we know Peter can only use powers when close to other specials, and then it hit me...

has anybody noticed that Nikki's other only seems to show up wherever there's a reflective surface, and during their conversation, Bad Nikki (it's been established elsewhere her name is Jessica) gives instructions on where the money is

which made me think, wouldn't it be easier for Jessica (that's what I'm calling her from now on) to just go and get the money herself? but then I realized that there were no reflective surfaces or mirrors in the attic, but that gave way for another question, how the hell did she get the money there in the first place?

still, I was thinking that the whole "Jessica only shows up when there's a mirror nearby" thing could be a really cool way to supress her "powers", think about it, so far she's the one, besides Sylar who could be the biggest threat in the overall story.

anyone else has theories about that?

Well Claires powers stem from her brain, so if there is something lodged in there as seen in the 3rd or 4th episode, she is basically dead until the item is taken out.

maybe she (jessica) uses the mirrors as a window so if there is no mirrors she cant surface...but once she does..i dont think she needs the mirror to stay..idk...thas my theory

I forgot to mention that one

okay, so far we have what seems to be this:

Peter: needs to be around others to use their powers
Isaac: only on drugs
Claire: weak brain (cheerleader, after all :p )
Nikki: mirrors?
Hiro: my only guess so far is Ando
DL: I have no idea, maybe salad tossing, other wise he wouldn't have been so eager to flee the joint
Nathan: maybe his powers are determined by his popularity in the polls
Matt: donuts?
MBG: no idea

am I the only one that thinks that Eden has powers too?

Isaac doesn't have to be on drugs to use his powers, he just thinks he does.

isn't that a psychological weakness?

no. it's a drug dependency. alcoholics feel they can't function without a drink. I don't think withholding heroine from Isaac can be considered his kryptonite. In fact, it probably helps him rather than hurts him in the long run.

If you want to get uber-technical, everyone of the good guys so far, save Claire, would appear to have a weakness for bullets. THey aren't made out of granite. Most of them have traditional weaknesses. In fact, I think the entire point of the show is that individually they aren't all that strong... it's as a group that they will truly be a force.

Bullets: Kill Heroes Dead... except for those who can dodge bullets, or resist them, or those who can bend the space/time continuum thus getting the heck out of the way of them bullets, and maybe those who wear bulletproof vests and don't get shot in the head

Mr. Bennet's weakness would be Claire or maybe hot bald black guys.

Run DL run.
he's got jungle fever

That's all well and good, unless you get capped in the head from behind before you can stop time.

But anyway, the whole idea is erroneous and silly. There is no one thing unique to each person that is their weakness. You can't hold a heroine needle up in front of Isaac and instantly neutralize him. You can't encase Hiro in lead to neutralize him. You can't attack Claire with a red lantern and neutralize her.

None of them have any type of "kryptonite," but since they're really just normal people with an extra exceptional ability, they seem to be pretty much vulnerable to the same type of stuff that you or I are. They can all be killed pretty easily by conventional means. I don't think that Claire is unique in the fact that destroying her brain kills her. That should just about cover all of us...

I know, but I was thinking more in the way Jessica seems to manifest whenever there's a reflective surface nearby, maybe if there aren't any, she wouldn't show up, that would make for some interesting plotlines and stuff

I mean, just as the show is exploring into these people's newfound abilities, how each one of them is experimenting with how far they can go with them, it would make an even more interesting development to see just how far they can't go, what they can't do, and which ways to neutralize their powers

a hero is as strong as his willingness to overcome obstacles and limitations (I'm starting to sound like Hiro/Ando)

cant nikki just be crazy and have powers

why must we connect them

her other side just embraces them

mirrors? like you dont talk to ur other self in mirrors? thats the easiest place to see ur otherself

So far, ikiN only appeared when Niki was near a mirror.

Hiro needs to be able to concentrate in order to use his powers so just use a high pitch noise or something to distract him.

Future Hiro didn't looked like he needed concentration when he went away.

I think Glasses Special Assistant needs to touch you before he can scramble your memory.

Matt's weakness could be his powers itself when he over use or stresses. as we saw when he lost control he gotten headaches and just collapsed on the floor

DL's weakness can be exactly like Kitty, maybe he has to hold his breath also and can get killed if he just stops in a middle of a wall or something

Niki's weakness can be Micah? she cant cut lose when he's around

Hiro's weakness could be causing time riffs. not exactly a weakness but its a bad consequence with his powers, so he has to be extra careful with his powers.

but if bad nikki needs mirros to come out, then how could she have killed those guys at the poker game. there weren't any mirrors that i could see. and she had to get there some how, so she was outside, where no mirrors are...so i don't think its that.

i think its when the mirrors are there, is when good nikkin can see the bad nikki as shown in the last episode.

I have a feeling that Issac doesnt really need to be high to paint the future- it is just a mental crutch for him.

Maybe it was an offscreen look at the mirror.

still she had to go outside to get there. where are the mirrors then?

i'm not saying it can't be right that she only comes out when mirrors are around, but there just has to be more to it.
