Well, I watched OUTLANDER last night and it was good. Not great, but good.
Caviezel is a strange actor. His performance was a bit wooden at times and his body language bizarre, but there is definitely something enigmatic about his style that keeps you watching.
The story is simple and we've heard it before, but still plays out nice and original here.
Some of the dialogue was pretty weak though. A little overly conversational.
The action is pretty cool, although the sfx is a bit rough in spots and the picture pretty grainy. The monster is cool but looks like a mixture of reptilic monsters we've seen before. Still the creature had some original elements that made it interesting.
There are some nice cameos of certain actors, especially Ron Perlman. He looks tripped out in this movie.
The costumes and sets look fantastic. The music is good too.
Some of the direction seemed a little slow at times and some of the shots a bit dark.
There are some decent special features and a ton of deleted scenes. No making of featurette, which I was disappointed not to have.
If you are a fan of sci-fi/fantasy/monsters you will likely enjoy this. It's like a cross between Predator, Beowulf, Road Warrior, etc.
I like it, don't love it, but I am glad to have it as part of my movie library.
I give it a 3 1/2 outta 5.
