Anybody see this yet? Just got it and will be watching it tonight. Seems to have flown under the radar when it came out back in January. It got some decent reviews and the trailers look pretty cool.

Wow, no response yet!

Here is the premise:

"Outlander" begins when a space craft crashes into the majestic fjords of ancient Norway and into the time of the Vikings. From the wreckage emerge two bitter enemies: a soldier from another world – Kainan (James Caviezel) – and a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. Man and monster both seeking revenge for violence committed against them. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, killing everything in its path, Kainan forms an unlikely alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors. Combining his advanced technology with ancient Iron Age weapons, the hero leads a desperate attempt to kill the monster - before it destroys them all.

My brother rented this movie yesterday. It's awesome! It's a real shame it didn't get a wide release, becuase it was quite an enjoyable action / sci-fi / low fantasy romp. If you liked Reign of Fire, you will definitely like this movie.

Can't wait to watch it. It looks good. I was in a coffee shop in Manhattan back in November 2008, sitting with my laptop, when in walks Jim Caviezel. I couldn't believe it was him. He was on his cell phone looking around for someone and then he left. I sat there staring at him, probably looking like a weirdo, and he looked at me for like two seconds. I was thinking "Holy ****, it's Jesus!"

LMAO, great story! :D

I hope that Caviezel gets to play Jor El in the next Superman movie.

Interesting choice for Jor El. I could see it. He's a good actor, strange demeanor, but still a good actor. It's too bad we don't see more of him.

I missed it when it was released here in the U.K but I'm going to buy it when it comes out on R1.

Well, I watched OUTLANDER last night and it was good. Not great, but good.
Caviezel is a strange actor. His performance was a bit wooden at times and his body language bizarre, but there is definitely something enigmatic about his style that keeps you watching.

The story is simple and we've heard it before, but still plays out nice and original here.
Some of the dialogue was pretty weak though. A little overly conversational.

The action is pretty cool, although the sfx is a bit rough in spots and the picture pretty grainy. The monster is cool but looks like a mixture of reptilic monsters we've seen before. Still the creature had some original elements that made it interesting.

There are some nice cameos of certain actors, especially Ron Perlman. He looks tripped out in this movie.

The costumes and sets look fantastic. The music is good too.

Some of the direction seemed a little slow at times and some of the shots a bit dark.

There are some decent special features and a ton of deleted scenes. No making of featurette, which I was disappointed not to have.

If you are a fan of sci-fi/fantasy/monsters you will likely enjoy this. It's like a cross between Predator, Beowulf, Road Warrior, etc.

I like it, don't love it, but I am glad to have it as part of my movie library.

I give it a 3 1/2 outta 5.

I was surprised how much I liked it. And the credits was funny because I saw that Underworld 3 had either the same writer or director and I watched that the same day. It was pretty good. I was impressed. Did that even hit theatres, i doubt it.

It was like Beowulf mixed with Sci Fi. Rediculous story but cool movie. One of those surprises that you end up liking.

Wow. I was watching the clip where Tatapulos said he designed the creature 10 years ago. I wonder if it had an influence on Guillermo Del Toro's creature design of the creatures in Hellboy 1. They look a lot alike.
