Congrats :]. I knew something must have been goin on.
So good to get a sense of catharsis regarding this story. Nothing worse than gettin ripped off, but not knowning for sure... thats the tough part.
That 'temporary suit' I wonder if you get to keep it when you get the finished piece? or if you return it? But I guess thats the last thing on your mind.
Glad things look like they have worked out for all concerned
............IB a n e
i wonder if he would have gotten in touch had it not been for this thread and the others over at the r.p.f etc. i would also be a little concerned about the "give me a week to get my finances up" line. he has your cash already why wait another week ? just shows though a little pressure here and there gets the job done. hope you guys get your suits and that they are great. one thing i dont understand though with webbing is why use urethane ? it cracks and breaks so easily. i would use a silicone such as dragon skin or platgel 10 that can stretch a thousand % and is realy tough. from what ive seen from most urethanes it gets brittle and cracks eventualy. the silicone will last 25 years before it starts to break down and you can glue it to suits with the same silicone.
Gundam, glad to see you got the matter resolved, you were so calm through it that should be admired i know i'd be fuming and no where near as calm as you. Post some pic's of you wearing it when it arrives and make sure you get the replacement version (or at least some of your money back)
Regardless of the fact that the suit is in a bit of dis-repair... it still looks Incredible.
I've never seen anyone who's managed to get every aspect of the creation of the suit so close to the original. The FIT of it is phenominal and again... despite the web and spider breakage... it could still fetch a VERY high re-sale price.
The suit dose look nice far away but close up the webs are falling apart pretty badly, also there are spots where there are just no webs at all paint chips off some glue is on the fabric of the suit. But Ollie was up front with the suit not being up to snuff so, i had an idea of what it might look like but this is a bit worse then i thought it would be. But i will Hold off till my replacement. And put my faith and trust in Ollie once more.
And i am pretty sure if one was to order there dream car lets say pay a huge amount of money. they finally pick up there car and find a few buttons are missing in the dash bored and your breaks are not in the best of shape your rear tail light is gone. I would think One would be in tittled to be a bit displeased. And if i where to sell the suit i am sure i would make some of my money back not all of it. Eatting a loss of over 300 dollars would not be something i am up for at all.
There are a couple of workarounds to get it in a suitable condition but it would be fiscally unfeasible consider how much cash you have already thrown down, the temp should be adequate for those gigs you'll do in the meanwhile Chazz until you're finished suit arrives plus you have the option of being able to sell this one and make something back.
But if you get to keep the suit for free I wouldn't complain :].
Especially since you could sell it and what ever you get would be profit..
After trying the suit on for a 2nd time the webs pop everytime i put the sucker on.... and it dose not bother me as much as it did before a few hours of re gluing and it set to roll. I can not wait for the second suit. It will ether be packed away in a air proof bag, or on a costume mannequin in a glass displayapart from the broken webs and stuff it still looks like you got the original movie suit dude, absolutely awesome, can't wait to see the other one when you get it!!
Looks like you were born for that suit man! I will wait to hear word on how the glue you suggested works on your suit before I try to repair my webs. Still haven't got my mask and undershell yet but I am sure Ollie will send it, it's good to know he recognizes the error of his ways and is willing to acknowledge the suits are not up to speed. I would personally like to thank you and the rest of the SHH members who posted on this thread, I would have gone mental if you guys hadn't been on the case.
dude that suit (eventhough is temporary) looks really good man...
i doubt anyone would notice the broken webbing, but if they do...just say u got into a fight with the goblin ;-) "battle damaged spidey"
i say if you can bulk up a little it would look simply amazing...
i'm jealous!!! grrrrrrr.
btw...does the suit have a 1 zipper system or the 3 zipper system in the back? and how's your visibility?
glad to see everything is working out Gundam. What happens to your current suit once you get the replacement?
Hi Chazz,
yes, that were my problems with the suit, your new one won't have this. I now learned that my mistake was to clean the mold with a high-pressure cleaner. Even though the mold dried properly (in my opinion) there was humidity left that caused a failure of the urethane while it hardened.
The gaps (or missing web parts) are caused by the webbing that have snapped back. Just push them back together and connect the ends with super glue. If you do a few hours before an appearance you shouldn't have problems with many webs breaking. And as I said, this is just a temporary solution. I will do my very best to have yours and Joshs new suit ready before christmas hopefully.
And can you tell me where the shell is too tight? Chin area maybe?
Do you mean the front spiders leg? Super glue helps. Glue it to the same position as the leg on the other side.
Best wishes
Ollie
I'm (we are) glad that everything is going on now for you Chazz and the others.
Hope you will receive your next suit as soon as possible and it will be perfect...![]()
The suit as is probably looks much better than any of screen suits did up close.
If you get a "perfect" suit next time just put it on display. My opinion is these raised web suits are not made for wearing.
Glad everything worked out. Knew it would.
