This film looks incredible...I might try to catch it tomorrow or Monday, if not then next weekend.
I know I'm a little behind on this, but is this the same story as that Labyrinth movie with David Bowie(same story, just not done the same way)?
Or am I just being an idiot?
Yeah I got my answer when I watched the trailer. Definately not like that David Bowie stuff.
I've seen the film. It sure as heck ain't like the David Bowie movie.
Well that's not fair. All the movies I want to see aren't even playing near me at the moment.(Labyrinth, curse of the golden flower, etc.)
I guess I'll just illegally dl them from a torrent site
There was a long line waiting to get in at AFI. But I still got a choice sit.
Innocence Has A Power Evil Cannot Imagine.
Everyone was fantastic.
I didn't really think it was going to have such graphic, gruesome war violence. Such an incredibly well told story. I wanted to cheer when Pedro came to rescue Mercedes. I had a hard time holding in my joy.
I loved Ofelia, one tough little girl. Almost makes me want to give birth, almost. Very tragic how the mother became involved with the Captain. Mercedes telling the Captain his son wouldn't even know his name was perfect, the only thing to really get to that ****er before execution.
Oh yes and Faun was most awesome, loved the fairies and the root.
I am hoping that this opens in my area the weekend of the 19th ,that weekend is suppose to be a wide release . I watched the "First look" special HBO is currently airing and the cinematography and set design look like sure Oscar nominees .If you want t o see the HBO special it's playing free On Demand aanytime under the Inside HBO title or here s the over the air schedule http://www.hbo.com/apps/schedule/ScheduleServlet?ACTION_DETAIL=DETAIL&FOCUS_ID=635966
i don't think this is opening anywhere near me... and it makes me want to punch a baby.

I forgot to place my opinion on the film. After almost a year of waiting for this movie, my expectations were exceeded. I knew it was going to be great, but it was better than that. What a fantastic piece of cinema this is.
That darn lullaby is haunting me.
I cant get it out of my head.
Saw this yesterday and it is my favorite movie this year (2006 included). The story was amazingly well told with an incredible mix of fantasy and horror. The acting was also outstanding, and I'm quite glad they didnt choose to dub this and instead went with subtitles because dubbing would have taken away from the emotion of the performances. Overall simply incredible movie. 10/10.
Is it Spanish or Mexican?
Spanish. It's set in Spain during World War II.
Unparalleled filmmaking, best of the year!
I looked at the plot on wikipedia, it looks like The Chronicles of Narnia done by a goth.
well, it's actually pretty different, seeing as there is no religious message at all, and a lot of people that I saw it with intrepreted it a different way.
it's overall a good fantasy film and if you have seen any of the other Del Toro Movies ( he is not "the master of horror" as others have suggested) something like "the Devil's backbone" you'd see that its a good progression, prehaps a little too influenced by his work on Hellboy, but he was developing "golden Army" as he directed this.
all over a good movie, If you can. give it a chance.
I thought the movie was mexican but set in Spain during Franco's dictatorship
The movie is a Mexico/Spain/USA production.
Whenever I see blue filtering used in a film I always think of Tim Burton. Influence?
What an amazing film. I'm still thinking about it days after seeing it. It's really beautiful. Definitely in my top three movies of last year. (If you couldn't guess, I absolutely adored it.)
There's already (a big) thread for this. Mods merge?
