Eh I thought that would be a funny name for a thread anywho...

My father had a mild stroke a couple of weeks ago. Half of his body was numb and he didn't go to the hospital after waking up to a numb left side of his body (because he is obsessed with not going to the hospital when something is wrong) previously he had hurt is ankle and after he finally went to see a doctor he found out he had diabetes and high blood presure. He has always had a terrible diet (I'm one to talk) and been out of shape but this new news is just pointing to a too early death in my eyes. My mother seems to be in denile about this but I don't see this ending anyother way. I mean how long has a man survived with all of this health problems?

I honestly am confused about the situation, I'm not talking to my father right now because he doesn't know how to talk to humans but I don't know how I'd feel if we didn't semi patch things up before his death.

I forgot to add that the doctor said that he is going to fully recover from it if he follows his orders.

Having a stroke is a very male thing to do.
I've had a mini-stroke and I'm sure that's what'll kill me.
However, be assured, if I have a massive stroke, and survive, I will NOT be talking anymore.
Yes, Kirk Douglas...stop getting on TV and talking. It's horrible.

You can do something about this now, save you getting the same health problems which you WILL get if this is in your family.

Sorry to hear about you dad, my neighbour had a slight stroke a few months ago hes ok for the moment, but once you have had one its always there with a chance to come back.

Im sure he will be fine if he has gotten all the medication and information from the hospital.
I know a guy who used to go to the swimming pool i used to work at, he had a stroke 10 years previous before i started working there he lost the use of his left arm, but that didnt put him off doing what he enjoyed and just got on with his life.

Just be there for him (and your mother if she isnt coping to well)

My point was that I've had a mini-stroke and I bet I'll die from a stroke...'cause you mentioned strokes.

I don't know your father but if a stroke wasn't enough to scare him into getting medical attention and trying to turn his life around then I don't know what to say.

Also, there was no ribbing directed at you whatsoever.
I ribbed Kirk Douglas.

Are you Kirk Douglas?!?:wow:

He did sorta, but judging by the past I just don't think he's going to keep up the healthy lifestyle and thats just...sad.

You found out my secret!!:o

Well, this thread wasn't ANYTHING like I thought it was going to be when I read the title. :o

Glad your dad is okay, but don't waste time perpetuating a divide between he and yourself. Life's too short and you don't want to be regretting keeping him at arms length after he's gone and you can't do anything to rectify the situation.

That sucks, but seriously, f**king fantastic thread title. Calvin applause coming your way.
