Paramount presents Beyblade: The Movie

Even as a kid I thought Beyblades was f***ing corny.

I don't see this making a lot of money or even getting made. I don't feel like many people care much about Beyblades.

You want some toy/game franchises that will make some coin: Pokémon for sure. Maybe Yugioh and Digimon but I don't think those last 2 are slam dunks

I used to love the show and the toys were actually fun....but eh, I don't see this really being a big thing. Nobody was checking for Beyblades in recent years

You know what? Why not?

Was actualy a big fan of this when i was younger, i remember even making some little tournaments along with other kids. Remember the russian team and how the leader was pretty much like Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.

I actually liked the show. It kinda reminded me of In Runs in the Family/My Summer Story.

Probably going to use a bunch of white kids instead of be all international like the show was.

You know damn well if they went with one of those properties the online community would never give them a moment's peace.

The funny thing about Yu-Gi-Oh is that the main idea of the manga could actualy work, as you have a kid possessed by this spirit that "rights wrongs" challenging people with dangerous games, full with spirits and monsters. However, the franchise is now only known for the cards, and that wouldn't work nearly as well.

Sailor Moon...nope...

Naruto...nope...

Fruits Basket...nope...

Angel Beats...nope...

My Bride is a Mermaid...nope...

Is This a Zombie? ...nope...

We'll go with that anime about tops...

:cmad:

Funny thing is that by now, the likes of One Piece, Naruto and Bleach must have already given billions to Shounen Jump, they have certainly gained more than a billion dollars with manga sales alone (One Piece has sold 380+ million copies), with their animes and merchandising, those franchises must be worth quite a bit. Surprised studios aren't jumping at them quickly, and when they adapted an easy heavyweight, they f***** up in absolutely every way they could (Dragon Ball Evolution).

The first two on my list, Sailor Moon and Naruto, I'm surprised have never been adapted...like you said, quite a few properties seem to be money machines in their manga sales alone. I'm shocked we haven't had studios clamoring for rights, etc.

And the less said about DB:E, the better.

I don't see why any studio would buy anime properties, only to sit on them in Development Hell.

I remember Beyblades were a thing in my last year of Primary/first year of High School(Early 2000's) where the younger kids who were still in Primary School would be into those. I guess the movie's being made for them now. I was right that Hollywood's finally looking into Gen Y nostalgia now.

Beyblade's probably easier to pull off compared to Pokémon or Digimon. I mean it's the huge special effects and creature design as well as world building that would be a pain and would require an Avatar level budget and dedication to pull off. And then you might have to deal with fans who are ******** that they're favourite Pokémon or Digimon didn't make it into the movie as the filmmakers decide on story.

You know what would be hilarious? They made Beyblade in the same vein as Never Back Down except instead of Mixed Martial Arts it's Beyblade fighting.:funny:

This is going to be another one of those 2 hour long toy advertisements isn't it?

I liked the show years back. Not sure how they're gonna make this work without making it look ridiculous. Lol

I think the only live action anime adaptation that I liked is Death Note.
