Deadline:
Ray Romano To Do Arc On ‘Parenthood’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Following his starring role on the TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age, which he also co-created, Ray Romano is staying in dramedy mode with an arc on the upcoming season of NBC’s Parenthood. He will play a photographer and former photojournalist who befriends Sarah (Lauren Graham) and complicates her relationship with Mark (Jason Ritter); his character will be introduced in the season premiere. Following the end of Men Of A Certain Age, Romano reunited with his Everybody Loves Raymond co-star Patricia Heaton in a two-episode guest stint on her ABC comedy series The Middle last fall.

TV Line:
Exclusive: Parenthood Recruits from Friday Night Lights Again, Casts Matt Lauria as
Clear eyes, full hearts, Parenthood simply can’t lose when casting Friday Night Lights alumni.

Former FNL boss and current Parenthood showrunner Jason Katims has recruited Dillon grad Matt Lauria to join the NBC drama in a major recurring role for Season 4, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Lauria, whose post-FNL roles have included Fox’s cop drama Chicago Code and an arc on CSI, will play a returning soldier from Afghanistan who bonds with fellow war vet Zeek (Craig T. Nelson).

This brings to three the number of FNL stars Katims has brought on to Parenthood. In addition to Lauria, Minka Kelly and Michael B. Jordan have also had arcs on the show.

Parenthood kicks off its fourth season on Sept. 11
Another FNL castmember.

If you have comcast, they've got the entire third season on demand.

A bit late for those on the east coast, but for those who don't know, the new season starts tonight.

God, this season... :csad:

It has it's comedic moments, but it's a family drama about four siblings (Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Sheppard, Erika Christensen), their children, and their parents (Craig T Nelson and Bonnie Bedalia).

This season is really dark, mainly because the wife of the Krause character (played by Monica Potter) has cancer.

Drew, did you just use your aunt's horrible, life-threatening disease to get laid? Jesus, kid...

Max is really ****ing pushing it tonight. Given how much of a short fuse Adam has been shown to have and how much stress he's under, I'm honestly surprised he doesn't just cuss the kid out.

I feel bad for Joel and Julia. Victor's a pain in the ass and Sidney doesn't seem much better.

NBC Accused of Pushing Abortion Through 'Parenthood' Episode
12:08 PM PST 1/10/2013 by Paul Bond

"The friendly, antiseptic Planned Parenthood office gets a co-starring role minus all the controversies that plague its baby-killing operation in real life," a conservative group says.

NBC is being accused of engaging in some pro-abortion propaganda with its latest episode of Parenthood.

The hourlong NBC drama that aired Tuesday night featured teenage girl Amy (Skyler Day) aborting her fetus at a pristine Planned Parenthood clinic while boyfriend Drew (Miles Heizer) sat nervously in a waiting room.

While liberal publications such as Salon.com and Huffington Post largely praised the episode for its bravery and realism in tackling a touchy subject during primetime, right-leaning outlets had a much different take.

“Yet another very special episode where TV characters promote predictably liberal positions,” said Dan Gainor, who runs the Culture and Media Institute, which, like the better-known Parents Television Council, was founded by Brent Bozell.

In the episode, Amy wants the abortion, but Drew does not. He’s supportive, but she is emotionally separating herself from him, and the only help she wants from him is money to pay for the procedure.

“If I have this baby, my life is over,” Amy tells Drew.

“It doesn’t have to be over,” he responds. “We could start a life. I can go to college. I can get a job. There are plenty of people who can help us.”

Later, Drew tells a friend, “I don’t want to give it up, but I’m trying to respect how she feels.”

There are several destructive messages in the episode, from a conservative, pro-life perspective.

“We get another pro-abortion piece where even the young father, who wants to keep the baby, never refers to the child as anything other than ‘it.' The friendly, antiseptic Planned Parenthood office gets a co-starring role minus all the controversies that plague its baby-killing operation in real life," Gainor said.

“There’s no discussion of life, of faith or any of the true arguments not to take the innocent baby’s life,” he continued. “All in all, exactly how Hollywood has twisted every major national issue for decades.”

Other anti-abortion organizations also weighed in Thursday. Jill Stanek of LifeNews.com, for example, called it “ironic” that the Parenthood episode was titled “Small Victories” and criticized Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards for her positive tweets about the show. The organization's offshoot, Planned Parenthood Action, tweeted that the show was “refreshing,” a notion Stanek derided.

“Refreshing? I saw a lot of heartbreak. I saw a lot of crying,” she wrote.

"After the abortion, Drew realized it was all too big, too much for him. So he belatedly turned to his mom -- as is also often the 'refreshing' reality of abortion -- who was now left with trying to help pick up pieces of her son’s broken heart as well as the death of her own grandchild," wrote Stanek.

NBC declined comment.

Damn im behind on this show. Kristen has cancer and Max knocked up his gf? What the f*** else has happened?

Wow this page started over a year ago and it's mostly Sawyer talking to himself. I need to catch up on season 4. I think I've only seen the first 3 episodes of the season.

Well, that's to be expected. This is the Hype, and Parenthood is a drama that lacks any genre trappings or dark anti-heroes as protagonists, so... :o
