The #1 movie in the country!!

What a shocker!
(not really)

With three other R-rated movies released this weekend, Paul Blart and Hotel for Dogs were pretty much the two that would be fighting for the #1 spot, I suppose.

I'm a big fan of Kevin James and I've been kinda interested in seeing the movie for a few weeks now. I'll probably see it before the week is out, but of course, my expectations are realistic.

Has anyone seen this or is thinking about seeing this silly film?

Sorry but this looks really really bad. I don't like a fat guy that does physical comedy...especially one that has run that gimmick into the ground.

That gimmick will never run out of style, IMO, and there hasn't been a great deal of those kinds of movies recently or anything like that.

But, this is a subgroup of the Family genre. The fact is, it's hard to make a good movie that relies on physical comedy like this, since physical comedy will always be divided down in the eyes of the watcher.

Hotel for dogs movie was in like 5th place.

This was number 1 with almost 35 million dollars. I don't know about people
anymore.

Gran Torino was #2 with 22 million, followed by My Bloody Valentine 3d with about 21 and a half million. and notorious right behinf it with 21 million.

I had a pass to see it on thursday but I couldn't go.

I won't see it in theaters, but I tend to find Kevin James amusing.

I like Kevin James (especially his stand-up), but as most comedies, I'll wait for a rental.

Heard it's just Die Hard with a G rating and a fat guy.

There's another mall cop movie coming out later this year. It's called Observe and Report. It star's Seth Rogen.

Even though I've yet to enjoy a movie with him in it, this already sounds more interesting than Blart.

-sigh- I knew I shouldn't have recommended people buying tickets to this and sneaking into MBV to avoide the price of the ticket. It's all my fault.

lol yeah, its your fault. next year the sequel will be out.

I'm betting alot bought tix for this but snuck into MBV.

Saw this last night and it made me laugh one or two times, but that was it. Think Tropic Thunder without it's great cast and crazy action.

Not really surprised, the other movies released looked rather average at best

I want to see this because it was filmed at a mall that i frequently go to . So it will be interesting to see the plaza on screen , if not for that ,then I would be fine renting it .

I just don't get how this movie become #1 with like $35 Mil.
It looks so...dumb(not to mention unoriginal). I felt, when watching the trailer, I had already seen the whole plot play out.
I'm obviously missing something here, but I just don't get it. :o

I saw it at a sold out showing on Friday; it was pretty funny and everybody was laughed and applauded at the end. I'm a huge Kevin James fan and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect much but I actually got quite a bit -- if you like slapstick comedy you should give it a shot before writing it off.

Nobody should be surprised at its success -- there isn't any profanity, sex, or drugs in the film -- so people of all ages can go see it.

Do you visit Spill.com? Because that's where I heard that comparison.

Spill.com is great. They gave the movie "rental"...which is higher than I think most might expected. Seriously, Mall Cop is no high art but it's harmless, innocuous fun.

And no fat guy does physical comedy as good as Chris Farley did. He's dead, I say bury it with him.
