The film is currently untitled and they’re keeping the logline under wraps. We have learned that it is a contemporary setting and it is the most commercial one PTA has attempted, with commensurate budget. It came out of a relationship that Warner Bros Picture Group co-chairs/CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy built making PTA’s last film, Licorice Pizza, while they ran MGM. That film got three Oscar noms for Best Picture, and Best Screenplay and Best Director for PTA.

While DiCaprio, Penn and Hall are the leads, the new film will have a big ensemble cast that is still falling into place. Anderson has done ensemble in the past, notably with Boogie Nights, the film that De Luca shepherded when he headed production at New Line.

DiCaprio was up for Boogie Nights once upon a time. Will be great to see it finally happen for these two.

He was also almost Jon Peters in Licorice Pizza.

Regina Hall about to introduce her immense talent to a new kind of audience. Happy for her.

Script must be pretty damn good. DiCaprio doesn't mess around with crappy scripts.

Anderson, by the way, was wearing a mask at the TCM event, as he is deep in preparation for shooting his next film for Warner Bros. that starts in just 11 days, and he was taking no chance in exposing himself to any health issues before going on set for the film. It will star Leonardo DiCaprio. Unlike his last, brilliant, Licorice Pizza, which shot in L.A., this untitled film is going to be in production in several locations around the country. No release date has been announced, but it is likely for 2025.

Word on the street is that this is an adaptation of Vineland.

Why am I getting Cheech Marin/Joe Pantoliano vibes from Leo?

Cast going crazy. Taylor needs more love. Haim was also very good in Licorice Pizza.

IMAX, you say? That's a bit unusual for PTA but now it got me thinking how awesome some of his past movies would have looked if they had been filmed with IMAX cameras. There Will Be Blood comes to mind. Also Boogie Nights. :o

Now I really want to know what movie he's cooking!
