Paul Thomas Anderson is currently working on a new film called "The Master." It will be a period film set in the 1950s about a charismatic man who starts his own religion, and is a loose analogy of the origins of the infamous Scientology cult, and more specifically its founder, science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. Judging from what's known about Hubbard's personal life, and Anderson's past directorial efforts, we can probably expect a story about the rise of a tycoon and his subsequent mental and moral deterioration, which actually describes Hubbard's life quite well.

From what I've read, the movie is almost like an "unauthorized" biography of Hubbard, but with all names changed to avoid getting sued. And apparently, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is playing the part of the film's Hubbard stand-in, which I can already say without a doubt is absolutely perfect casting.

I eagerly anticipate this movie, not just because Anderson is a great director, but also because Scientology abuse is something I've been fascinated with for quite some time. I expect that there will be a lot of people wearing Guy Fawkes masks in the audience.

I'm not that interested in Hubbard or Scientology as subjects, but I'll watch anything Anderson makes.

And here I was hoping PT Anderson would make a movie about the Doctor's arch nemesis......played by Daniel Day Lewis.

I don't give two ****s about Scientology or Hubbard but i'll see it since it's PTA.
