Action-Adventure Peaky Blinders - 1920's BBC Gangster Series Starring Cillian Murphy

This entire London storyline seems to have trouble coming in from all directions.

Trivia alert: the actress who plays May is Tom Hardy's wife.

Isn't this show supposed to be on Netflix now? I can't access it at all.

So Tommy got it on with Mrs. Carleton. Lucky bastard!

Not sure what her intentions are yet though, whether she genuinely likes him or just using him, but I guess we'll see...

... because Grace is back, and she's in London!

I saw someone raise an interesting question elsewhere...

Do you guys think Solomons [BLACKOUT]is actually betraying Tommy, or only pretending to ally with Sabini?[/BLACKOUT]

The childish "write that down" bickering between
Sabini and Solomon
was funny

Depends if it sticks with history or not.

Any idea what year we're at now? Soloman killed Billy Kimbers brother Harry in 1920. Kimber and him were at war for a couple of years so it must be after that (since Tommy shot him).

I don't know anything about the real Sabini-Solomons rivalry, but it would be odd to me of Alfie were to drop Tommy that easily. The Jews were losing to the Italians and only gained the upper hand once the Peaky Blinders came along. I assume Alfie was just playing Sabini.

Was anyone else surprised that Michael seemed like a decent guy? He was actually trying to manage the books right, didn't want to go drinking, and then defended his black friend. I figured he was just going to destroy the Blinders from within but maybe he's not all that bad.

OTOH, Arthur overreacted greatly to the pub incident. Burning down neighborhood establishments that belong to innocents is a sure way to lose local goodwill quick.

Sabini and Solomon's meeting was hilarious. You can tell they've been fighting since they were schoolboys.

This show is brilliant!

Just don't know why we don't make more TV shows like that over here. Instead of all the reality tv crap, cooking programmes and such. We've shown we have the talent.
Why the hell is it on BBC 2 either? If it was on BBC 1 it would be one of the top watched programmes. It's like when they put the Wire on at about 23:30 at night. BBC just doesn't get it.

Campbell and Polly....ew.

Tommy's a player.

When Solomons was rambling on about Passover, and his men were shutting the doors, totally thought Arthur was about to get killed.

That was a great moment though: "What'd you name it?" "Tommy Shelby"

Last nights episode was grim.

Arthur isn't the smartest guy and he is volatile. If any Shelby is to die on this show I think it will be him.

Campbell has crossed into straight villain territory for me. He was ruthless before but he is worst now.

Tommy always has plan and part of the joy of this show is watching him scheme a way out of a bad situation.

I want to see The Shelby's strike back at the London gangs.

Tommy is a ladies man. Tommy has had three women eating out the palm of his hand in this season alone.

Campbell is not giving any ****'s right now and I'm loving Sam Neill's performance this series.

That scene with Alfie and Arthur was great. I just hope we get to see them interact one last time, whether it ends badly or not, is the question.

I don't think Alfie's as much of a bigshot as he thinks he is. I think Sabini just used him to do some of his dirty work for him, and will continue being the dominant one.

I mean, could Sabini have sounded any less sincere with his "I'm sorry about the Jew thing"?

As for Arthur, I don't know how much longer someone like him can possibly go on living. I totally thought for a second his number was up in the scene with Alfie.

How much is actually going to get resolved in the finale?

I mean, we've got the whole triangle with Tommy/May/Grace and whatever Grace is up to.

Campbell's shenanigans and the Field Marshal assassination plot.

Getting Arthur back.

Tommy presumably being pretty unhappy with Sabini and probably even less happy with Alfie right now and coming up with a next move there after they made the Peaky Blinders their ***** last episode.

Alfie is either deranged (totally possible given how he interacts with others) or a complete idiot. The Italians had the Jews over a barrel, the PBs get him out of that mess, Sabini apologizes, and Alfie...decides all is forgiven? :whatever: The Italians will just take back the territory they gave up and after the way he treated the Blinders no smaller gang will pull Alfie's chestnuts out of the fire.

I figured he wasn't dead because his reckless drug addict storyline hadn't fully played out out yet. He still has to majorly **** the family over before kicking the bucket.

Well I think it's pretty clear that Alfie is a wackjob, but so is Sabini, and Sabini seems to be smarter than Alfie. I don't get what Alfie thinks he's gaining by so cavalierly throwing the Peaky Blinders under the bus just because Sabini apologized about as grudgingly and insincerely as possible.

That whole subplot feels kind of like lazy writing to me. Alfie allies with the Peaky Blinders and then just turns around, teams up with his nemesis, and throws them under the bus for no freaking reason other than the lazy sort of explanation that Alfie's just nuts.

Season finale tonight.

Synopsis from The Mirror:

His horse is running in The Derby, he must assassinate a British field marshal to fulfil his debt to Major Campbell and simultaneously overthrow Sabini’s track-side betting empire. Who said men can’t multi-task?

Before we even get to Epsom, Tommy also has to spring his brother Arthur from prison, and there’s another of his negotiations with Jewish gang-boss Alfie Solomons, in which his perfect poker face proves once again to be a quite formidable weapon.

And Observer:

It's Derby Day at Epsom, and under orders from Major Campbell, Tommy is there to assassinate a high-ranking member of the military establishment. He plans to turn the situation to his advantage by bringing his gang to the racecourse and striking a blow at gang boss Sabini - a scheme that could take his organisation to another level.

However, adversaries have forged secret plans which could send him to his grave. As Tommy readies his soldiers, he receives alarming news that will change everything.

Mr. Campbell! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :csad:

Hell of a finish though.

Kind of bittersweet to say goodbye to [BLACKOUT]Sam Neill[/BLACKOUT] on this show.

What a finale!

Keeping up with who is double crossing who each week is a feat in its self.

I feel that Michael is Tommy's heir apparent. Arthur is too self destructive to lead and John's heart isn't really in it.

Tommy had to have
one last gloat with Major Campbell and because of it Lizzie was assaulted by that black and tan scumbag.

Tommy and his women problems.

Polly remains Gangster Moll no 1.

Some great acting all around. Sam Neill and Cillian Murphy in particular were fantastic.

Grace has terrible timing.

Tom Hardy's Alfie Solomon remains brilliant “Olly, I want you to go outside and shoot that boy from the good family”.

So glad the third series is confirmed. Snoop Dogg watches the show also.
