I personally love this sport and I still have my picture (I was 7 at the time) with Pele here on my desk and now to hear that there might be a movie about him is awesome.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, WMA has signed soccer great Pele for representation in all areas. As part of the move, the agency is packaging a biopic feature film about the three-time World Cup winner's life.

WMA president Dave Wirtschafter lauded Pele as "one of the greatest and most iconic athletes of our time." He added, "We look forward to helping him develop his already global brand throughout the entertainment and sports communities."

Dubbed the "king of football," Pele's life is ripe for cinematic treatment. He reportedly was responsible for a 48-hour cease-fire during a civil war in Nigeria so that people could watch him play. He officially was declared a national treasure by the government of his native Brazil.

WMA will work closely with Sao Paulo, Brazil-based Prime Licensing to create global marketing and business opportunities for the retired star. Prime Licensing holds exclusive rights to license the Pele brand worldwide.

Wonder who they will get to play the great man

I'm not sure about that...

me being brazillian, I'm naturally wary of this. there's already a Garrincha biopic (and I think Garrincha's life is a lot more "ripe for cinematic treatment"), and it sucks. plus, no way in hell would I want a non-brazillian actor playing him. it'd be like getting an american to play Queen Elizabeth.

I'm open to the idea, but I'd be very careful about it.

an Australian played the Queen, i think it'll be ok if someone who isnt from Brazil to play Pele. All they should be worried about is finding the right actor.

Dude, an American played a Ugandan dictator and got away with Best Actor!

Surely an American can play a Brazilian football player.
