.....They just kill the vampires as easily as they did in the much more thrilling version of this scene in episode 6 or even the pilot.

...With that said, is there a point to Dorian Gray? He just seems like such a waste on this show. Otherwise, it was a solid finale.

I feel the pretty much the same way, the vampires so far don't seem as much as a threat in a fight that I feel they should be, other than them having the numbers usually. First why do they wait til night to go attack them? Is there no daylight issue with these vampires? And speaking of that, just about every time they are shown, they almost are always shown sleeping, at night, shouldn't they be active, or hunting? And yea Dorian, they really should have brought some light to what his role in everything is other than having sex, though most of us have a good idea of what the painting is that he keeps hidden and looks at, should have at least shown the audience, didn't have to be dragged out til next season, is it really that big of a game changer?

:D I do like Ethan, but...

He is kind of a dick

He knows what he is and what happens, did Everyone in that tavern have to die because those two bounty hunters wanted to take him? I mean I'm assuming everyone in that tavern that saw him change were killed right? He knew a full moon was coming why not go out to the empty woods or lock himself up somewhere?

Kind of disappointed. Feels like they could have fleshed out more without Dorian and the constant banging. Maybe then they would have had time to extend the fight with the vampires and make them seem threatening. Ethan, Frankenstein/the Creature/Proteus and the possession were my favorite parts. The last 10 minutes were essentially things I was hoping would be explored within the season, instead of teased for the next. But I guess that means next season will definitely be an improvement.

Still one of the best new shows around, but not as good as True Detective or Fargo I think.

Too much teasing for the next season, decent finale. Good show tho!

The vampires are like cats, all the vampires do is sleep most the time :funny:

They definitely need to bring Dorian into the wider plot or something next season to make his character more worthwhile.

I love that the team is made up of a vampire hunter, werewolf, bride of satan, mad scientist and whatever Sembene. Sembene needsfleshing out next season also.
So Vanessa is daughter?
Biologically?

I think he meant he thought of Vanessa as his daughter but she could biologically be his daughter considering he was sleeping with her mother.

The head vampire they killed in the theater is not "The Master" right?

About the Priests last question:

The Catholic church's official view is that God can work good even through evil. This isn't to say God causes the evil. He just makes something good come from it. Sufferings and curses can be blessing or serve a greater purpose. The priest is telling her that even this suffering is divine and asking her if she wants to give that up. I figure in the end Venessa will stay strong and suffer on. She will find a way to make this work for her.

Yeah I get that but something about the way the priest said it just weirded me out. It's like he has a hidden agenda or something. I was expecting him to be the devil and Vanessa was just imagining the conversation. :funny: But yeah, I think Vanessa will just endure it and maybe use it to her advantage. I'm guessing by the series finale though, she'll be completely free of the demon inside of her (maybe by dying or by some sort of exorcism).

So Vanessa is daughter?
Biologically?

I think Malcolm meant figuratively. Granted, biologically is still possible with him having an affair with Mrs. Ives.

He was so useless in this season. His only part is sexing up the cast and trigerring Vanessa's possession. :funny: He better be a bigger player next season.

No. Because after he died his underling half-vampires all died too. Bu Mina was unaffected and still spoke of the Master in the present tense, saying that he will breed with Vanessa and make all of them his slaves.

My guess is the Master is obviously Dracula. Hopefully, the count will appear next season, because dragging this non-mystery out longer could get tedious. Which is a worry of mine.

I think this might have been something of an origin for the Dorian gray, as far as him being a murderer is concerned. His inability to accept rejection (he is notoriety vain and self-obsessed) could turn him into the monster he is in the book next season.

Is Malcolm the torture target??
I had suspected Vanessa might be his biological daughter the moment they showed her mom cheating, but we don't know that that is what Malcolm meant. Either way, he chose her which was nice to see.

I think that Madam Kali would be a player next season. I don't trust her. :o

Yeah, she is definitely up to no good at all. :p

Pretty dull finale to tell the truth but it's setting up some interesting plotlines for next season:

- What will Madame Kali get up to?
- Vanessa will continue to struggle against Amun-Ra.
- Presumably we'll learn more about Ethan's past and watch him attempt to contain his wolf side.
- I assume the Master isn't dead and they'll have to find him and kill him.
- Brona is going to wake up a walking corpse. How will she react to that and Caliban?

I hope we learn more about Sembene and Malcolm's trips to Africa. We already know that Sembene saved Sir Malcolm's life, and I've seen it theorized that they brought Amun-Ra and Amunet back with them from Egypt, which is an interesting notion.

I hope Brona's accent improves once she's the corpse bride. :o I love Billie Piper but I can't for the life of me understand most of what she's saying.

Actually, it is a cool one if that is true. Because then perhaps Vanessa Ives is really his biological daughter due to his cheating affair. If that is the case, then Logan could subtly be working in Bram Stoker's less interesting "The Jewel of Seven Stars," which for all its dryness, kind of birthed the Mummy horror movie genre as we know it when Universal unofficially adapted aspects of it for the 1932 Mummy film starring Boris Karloff.

In the book, an Egyptian explorer who neglects his daughter her whole life is revealed to have been cursed for entering an Egyptian sorceress's hidden temple and resting place, and the moment that he did that exactly at the same time in England, his wife died giving birth to their daughter who is the reincarnated visage of the dead Egyptian magic-queen.

So, I could see them working that in here if they want to go in that direction.

Good series...er finale...though one thing I felt was that the Mina storyline went over too quick...but it was nice to see that what Sir Malcolm did for Vanessa by saying "I already have a daughter..." - that bit there really surprised me. Like wow...he even meant that?

And some of you thought Ethan wasn't a wolfman. :lmao:

I told you from the start. :D

I knew Ethan was something of a Wolf...I just wanted to be surprised lol. So is he just Wolfman? not an actual werewolf?

I don't know why some people seem to have wanted everything answered. You can't just expect every season to start fresh, lots of shows have plotlines and questions that stretch years and as long as they're not overstretched, they're fine. I think the viewing public in general these days are just too impatient.

I think this finale answered and finished just enough plotlines, and set up just enough more for next year.

Dracula is arguably the biggest of all the monsters from that era, so it makes sense not to get all the answers behind this "Master", because obviously that will be who he is, and he should be treated like a big deal.

They've taken some very interesting steps for these stories that have been told multiple times through the years, and I for one can't wait to see more.

What did you all think of Vanessa's possession scenes in ep7? I thought they were great...scary and creepy... :(

It is basically the same thing really. Just with 'Wolfman' we think of it as more human like because of the original Lon Chaney Jr version (which Ethan's is an evident nod too), whereas Werewolves are usually depicted as more of a mix (The upright ones in 'The Howling' or 'Underworld' or 'Van Helsing' etc) or much more wolf like (Amercan Werewolf) or just as full on big wolves (True Blood, Twilight, etc).

But the same basic idea whatever the look. Lycanthropes, change under the full moon, can only be killed by silver, etc. What they look like (or are called) is up to the writers.

Agreed. I was hoping for a bigger finale battle and ending cliff hanger, but this served it's purpose in setting up the next series fine.

There was such an overload of obvious foreshadowing to it that some thought it was a red herring.
But that is the show. How obvious the finale was proved just that.

The problem with Dracula is the teased him way, way too much.
