People Who Use IMO or IMHO

When some don't use it, they receive the reply "Well, that's like.. your opinion"
When they do, they receive "Why do you use that?"

Chances of wanting to shout "shut up" rise from both sides.

I guess its just to affirm that what theyre saying is their opinion.

It really redundant though.

Pretty much this. I don't like using it, but when you run into certain people it kind of save a bunch of leg work.

*Waits for the Big Lebowski gifs*

Why do you do it?
I've seen some people say it's unnecessary because 'everything is an opinion.' But in my experience I've seen many people give an opinion but state it as a fact. There's a huge lack of humility in speaking that way that definitely can lead to a poor conversation due to apparent condescension (even if it wasn't intended).

So when there's a conversation where I think it's important to emphasize that I'm just giving my view from my perspective, I'll use it to pre-dampen an overzealous response and keep the tone civil and respectful.

IMO.

I feel it's easy to see what is an opinion and what is a fact so I don't use them, especially in a discussion forum. It just goes without saying for me.

But, some people can't understand that or as seen sometimes around here, like to make a big(ger) deal about something as if you stated it was a fact.

IMO.

Give me an example of this.

I rarely use it. Depends on the situation.

I use it like all the time, but I usually just use IMO. I don't remember typing "IMHO" before.

To shut anyone up from quoting The Big Lebowski at me as a retort!

I can't remember when I began using IMO. Although I don't use it IRL, I sometimes find it useful when I'm composing a long MB post. OTOH, I can see where people might find it annoying. IDK if I have a strong opinion on whether it's a good practice, TBH.

"Bae" should be retired and not given a retirement party with a nice gold watch, but taken out in the woods and shot in the head and left for the gators.
