Watch this movie if you are a "phan" of this series...as a lifelong phan, I couldn't believe how good the finale to a near 4 decades of these great actors and stories...a tribute to the great late Angus Scrimm....

BOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I cant wait to see it.

Wait, this is out? I've been waiting but didn't know it was out.

good to know! looking forward to this.
i want to see how the mythology of the tall man is finally explained!

Yes, its available on Vudu, Amazon, DirecTV, etc...a variety of on demand services...watched it last night...got chills...some amazing sequences and all the dialogue is just perfect....Angus knocked it out of the park, or should I say the red dimension...the boxset is set to follow...meanwhile you can check out Phantasm Remastered (the 4k restoration of the original) and Ravager in limited release throughout the USA.

Both will be on bluray December 6...a boxset is either late 2016 or early 2017...."you're not even real...you're my bad dream!!!"

I just watched it. There is much I liked. You can tell it was meant to be a web series initially, as it does look like it was filmed with hd cameras and the CGI sucks. I love the practical effects of the first 4 films more. I also hated the rap in the end credits. Flat out hate. But the movie itself I did feel was true to the Phantasm spirit. The movie has a lot of nostalgia for the series, and is very open as to what actually happened in the story. This feels like a conclusion to the story, mainly in regard to Reggie. I am hoping this is the last one. You cannot do these without Angus. Simply won't work. Technically, they COULD do more, but when did this series ever leave you on a conclusion? All in all, probably would rank it as my least favorite of the series (just because on the whole, it looks and feels the cheapest visually), but I still quite liked it.

I have a lot of opinions on what happened in the series as a whole, what it all means, and all that jazz. Lots of comments and it is a discussion I would like to have with other fans of the series. Phantasm and Evil Dead are probably my favorite horror franchises. I feel the Phantasm films are unique and very rewatchable, given how each film is very unclear and open for interpretation. But, I will table those for now until more people have seen Ravager.

I'm glad to hear some positive reactions to Ravager. I've heard a lot of negative feedback, some of it based on what you said, Spider-Fan, e.g. camcorder feel, sub-par CGI, a shaky narrative, etc. I guess I'll catch it via OnDemand.

I totally understand those complaints and agree with them. However, with movies it isn't always about the visuals purely. Phantasm isn't exactly a property that gets giant mega budgets, and this was initially a web series conceptually, so I understand why it is the way it is. I do think the movie offers an interesting story and premise, which helps elevate it over those hurdles. Some may not be able to get over the look of the film. That is their right. I did find stuff to enjoy, though.

The Phantasm series has been able to get by on comparably small budgets since the beginning. Phantasm II was a very good step up, IMO. I was able to watch it in the theater when it was new, and it did a fine job updating the concept. I didn't even mind that James LeGros had replaced Baldwin.

Phantasm III, however, is just a terrible film; bad writing, bad characters.

Phantasm IV ended on a cliffhanger, but had it been the final film, it wouldn't have been a bad way to go out, by any means.

Watched Phantasm Ravager last night.

I liked the story and premise, and cool to see the cast reunited again.
You can definitely tell they were working with a very limited budget here.
It does look like a web-series so it's lacking that cinematic quality from the previous movies, especially compared to the first Phantasm.

What will hook people in is their emotional connection to previous movies and characters (especially Reggie), so this is more of a love letter to the fans of the films than anything else.
Newcomers to the franchise will probably not like this movie.
The line between dream and reality is very blurred here and can be confusing - but that's always been a big part of what was appealing about the Phantasm movies.

It's not a "definite" conclusion to the story, but it ends in a way where you can leave the story there and it would be ok, and strongly poignant at times too.
Too bad they didn't have a bigger budget to work with - less sub-par CGI, and more practical effects would've been perfect!

The story and characters save the movie from the bad sfx.

The first Phantasm is still the best, nothing can top it.

RIP Angus Scrimm.

So I'm getting ready to watch Ravager. But I've been wondering, in Oblivion, the Tall Man says "Ice Cream Man, it's all in your head", for seemingly no reason. I can't help but wonder if that's what all this really means, or the was the Tall Mam trying to cast more doubt. The series is already strange enough as is, but a delusion probably would make all this fit together.

Well enjoyed Ravager. It was fun. Not the best, and as many have already pointed out, the effects were pretty lackluster, but overall, it kept me engaged. Don't know what was the real ending, although the mid-credits seems to imply the post-apocalyptic world is the real reality. Although I guess there's really several realities and they are all real to some degree.

Anyone pick this up today? I had both Phantasm Remastered and Phantasm Ravager pre-ordered on Amazon. Remastered came, but Ravager was back logged. I ended up buying that at Best Buy and cancelling my Ravager order on Amazon. Watching one of them tonight with commentary, but not sure which. I watched Phantasm II with commentary from the Shout release last month. That was fun.
