It began as a web series that would focus on Reggie but eventually Don Coscarelli and the rest of the cast got involved and so it turned into Phantasm V. They've been secretly filming it for the past several years, since around 2008 or 2009.

This is officially getting a limited theatrical run on October 7th, and will be on Blu Ray/HD Download later this year. Phantasm is also getting a 4k remaster that will get a theatrical run and Blu Ray release this year too.
