Halcyon Co. co-founders and co-CEOs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson, who picked up first-look rights to sci-fi author Philip K. Dick's estate in 2007, have selected his 1974 novel "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said" as the first of his works they will adapt for the screen, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Set in a futuristic, dystopian world, "Tears" is the tale of a celebrity who wakes up after an assassination attempt to find no one has ever heard of him.

Isa Dick Hackett and Laura Leslie, co-founders of Electric Shepherd Prods., the production arm of the Dick estate, will develop the work alongside Kubicek and Anderson. Dale Rosenbloom and John Alan Simon also will produce.

I hope they keep the ending .... they always change so much with his adaptions.

As much as I love Blade Runner I would love to see a more accurate adaptation of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?". I loved reading that book, I was hooked as soon as his argument with his wife "Iran" started and the entire function of the "mood organ" was explained by the characters discussion around the object.

Heres hoping.

Oh yeah the "empathy box" as I recall.

The religion was called Mercerism lead by Wilbur Mercer it caused the user to share pain with others who gripped on to the handles of the box. They had that funky Buster Friendly show to that served as a competitor to Mercerism.

Writing about all of this makes me want to read the book again.

Yeah, he makes that big annoucement about it. My favourate part was when Deckard had to figure out if that guy he was with was an android or not since the guy himself didn't know either.

That part was pretty suspenseful when I first read it. I honestly thought that detective was going to turn out to be an andy and get taken out by Deckard.

So many great moments in that book.

I think it needs a Tom Cruise, George Clooney or a Brad Pitt for the main role to have poignancy. An A-list celebrity who forgotten by the public. After seeing the acting on those Terminator Salvation clips lets hope McG stays the hell away. I think this is perfect for David Fincher.

I wouldn't mind seing an animated version. There is just something about live action that loses some of the sureal elements of Philip K. Dick's work. But whatever, I don't mind.
