Transformers Pictures Discussion Thread

I've bashed Megatron since day one, but i'm starting to grow fond of the new pic of him.

Megs does look better. His hands look much better when they're not all spread out and confusing. I just wish he had the damn Decep logo.

I just noticed that Optimus's chest has changed yet again.

Nah...those are old renders, we are just getting to see high-res versions. These were done for promo materials, like cereal boxes and what not. The best look at an ILM movie ready render of Prime's chest is that shot from the "interview" article.

I'm still liking the Empire cover the best as far as images released.

Love these new pics, although I still question some of the designs, but at this stage it could be worse.

Starscream or Abe Sapien, you decide

Ok am I the only one thinking "Arise Rodimus Prime" ?

Alls I know is that Megatron better break out a big arm cannon at some point in the movie. That would be the only thing to save that P.O.S. design.

It would make for a nice oooh hand-clap moment if Starscream or some other Decept throws him his cannon so he can defend himself. Of course, that'll spell Jazz's doom... when he gets blown to bits. More hand claps, of course.

the amount of parts these transformers have make me dizzy. Must of been hell for ILM to bring them to life.

Whats with the stupid F'in poses fro Prime and Jazz?

they look.. SO.... Well..... STUPID!

why?

Prime should just be posed the same as he was in the first(?) pic we saw of him... stood up straight looking imposing like the noble warrior he is.

and im still not sure about megatron... I'll be able to live with it... IF he gets a big ***** off cannon on his arm AT LEAST once in the movie!

Ironhide looks GOOD!!!

we know from released images that BB's arm transforms into a cannon. Also, in prequel comic #4, SS does the same thing. Chances are ol' Megs will just transform his whole arm into a cannon. :(

I can't get past how easy it would seem to just chuck a grenade into the internal workings. What about armor?

Well Megs wont get his cannon thrown to him Cflash because his arm is the cannon!! Though Aye brings up a good point about the nades. Infact in the script [BLACKOUT]Bonecrusher is blown to bits by motar fire flying into his armor and a well place nade by Lennox last time I read the script.[/BLACKOUT]

That's what I said when the first design came out last year. They were so against "boxy" designs that they went in the complete opposite direction without taking time out to think about pragmatics. If these are indeed sentient, evolved creatures their bodies would get more advanced, and more protected, not more open and prone to attack.

i'm pretty sure the TF's aren't made of the same materials our cars are. they're advanced robots which means they're probably made out of materials that are hundreds of times stronger than Earth metal. just because it LOOKS like our metal doesn't mean it IS our metal. if the material they're made of is strong then there's no need for all that armor.

besides...armor = slower/limited movement

I can't pick a favorite...they all look great. but man, IronHide looks amazing...better than I expected. He actually LOOKs tough.

Hmm. You're not thinking this through. They DO need armor. It's not about their metal alloys being a hundred times stronger than Earth metal. It's about their weapons and enemies capabilities being a hundred times stronger too! Hence, the need for more protective covering. It's an evolutionary trait.

What Decepticons don't have grenades too? Please.

Besdies, IMHO, NO Earth weapon should be able to kill a Transformer like that. To do so misses the whole point period... armor or no armor.

As for the last statement about slower movement, I thought you said these were advanced metals? Shouldn't they be stronger AND lighter?

if the TF's weapon technology is so advanced that they can fatally damage the TF's with the CURRENT armor that they do have then adding more clunky armor isn't going to help their chances of survival. if anything, it might limit their speed and movement. if you noticed in one of the tv spots...Ironhide was BARELY able to dodge a rocket/grenade. add a couple hundred more pounds of armor on him and he might not've been able to make that dodge...

I'm still not understanding your logic. A hundred pounds? Again, I thought you said this was "advanced alien" armor? Come on.

As for adding more armor being bad... hmmm tell that to police swat and soldiers that put on body armor or heavily decked out humvees that need even more armor than we can pay for. Lighter stronger armer is always a good thing. And, fragile, wirey war robots is a bad thing. Plus, it goes against the whole idea of the original TRANSORMERS (which were indeed advanced near invincinble aliens that humans were powerless against... that was the point).

Anyway, the point Boiing was arguing is that "they said" these were advanced aliens.... and thus the weird "non Transformers" Bionicle meets Gobots look (my words). But, it looks like it was a b/s excuse.

STRONGER armor, yes...but if you think slapping on more armor on these robots that already weigh TONS is only gonna put on a couple more pounds then you're in a deep fantasy, lad.

yet the designs for the movie versions of the TFs have "armor" where most SWAT and spec ops soldiers have body armor also...maybe even more. you don't need armor on your biceps and thighs, which are about the only places where most of these TFs aren't "armored".

in your eyes. we'll never know that unless we talked to the people who were in charge of designing the TFs.

Why? And why should it matter? They can morph into a more efficient form to carry the extra armor. A quadruped form. They can scan and morph at will right???? Such was the "not thinking it through" when Michael Bay decided these robots could "morph" themselves (without the aid of a supercomputer).

In any case, these robots are fragile. They look fragile and AFAIK they ARE fragile in the movie. Human Grenades blowing them up? Dear lord. :whatever: You'd think advanced aliens would be more... well... advanced.

Ahhhhh, who cares... their designs are sh****y any way you look at it.
