Same quotes we've heard/read before but there is a new one...

Daniel Craig is going to do a fantastic job - Brosnan

September 20, 2006

Former Bond star Pierce Brosnan is planning to watch his replacement Daniel Craig in new 007 movie Casino Royale. The 53-year-old actor played the suave spy in four movies, including Goldeneye and Die Another Day, before being axed by bosses for allegedly demanding too much money to reprise the role for a fifth time.

Brosnan was initially fuming after being told he would not be donning the secret agent's famous tuxedo again, and let rip with a foul-mouthed tirade against the producers, branding them "f***ers".

However, it seems the handsome star has got over his disappointment and insists he will be going to the cinema to watch Craig in the new movie along with the millions of other Bond fans all over the world.

The Matador star said: "I'm looking forward to it like we're all looking
forward to it. Daniel Craig is going to do a fantastic job."

Since he was named as Brosnan's successor, Craig has come under fire from some Bond fans who claim he is unsuitable for the role. However, the producers seem pleased with their choice and have already signed up the 38-year-old actor for a second movie, on which shooting is due
to start next year.

I don't have much sympathy for Brosnan. It was time for a change.

Especially when he was the star of one of the worst Bond movies I've ever seen.

Its good that Brosnan has support for Craig but its inconsequencial in the long run. The proof is in the film's print. Craig will be awesome.

I'm glad to see Brosnan isn't holding a grudge. I thought he was a great Bond.

Very cool, I heard Brosnan was supporting Criag as Bond and i'm glad he'll see the movie.

As I understand it, what annoys Brosnan, other than the manner of his leaving, was that he wanted to make some kind of final statement of 007 and he was never able to. A film like Casino Royale and the added characterisation was very much something he wanted to do.

That doesn't really work since Casino Royale is about Bond's beginnings NOT his end.

Also, I feel in some ways, Brosnan was part of the problem.

CR could have easily been adapted as an ongoing sequencial event and to be honest, thats the direction I feel should have been used because it would make more sense, especially with Dench reprising her role as, M. However, I too feel that Brosnan was a factored problem and his time was definately up. Brosnan was a victim of being a good Bond in bad Bond movies but thats the hand he was dealt. Its happened before but lets hope Craig experiences are more of a success.

Brosnan climaxed with the 1st one. Each successive one diminished in quality.

It was time for a change in the guard.

I understand his frustration, especially since he left on a very bad Bond, probably the worst of the series. That said, even if Brosnan had carried on, he would have been near his end anyway, since he was not getting any younger.
