How much is that bounty for?

At this point, probably pretty substantial. Being involved in the death of a major East India Trading Company official (and British Lord to boot) alone would have probably put him at or near the top of a lot of powerful people's "to kill" list.

The bounty is only 3 digits and appears to start with a 1. The poster in the trailer said "Two Hundred".

:funny: Thats a pretty pathetic bounty for a notorious pirate even for the 18th century.

Jack's worth has lowered. Not even his death is worth that much anymore. Wouldn't be surprised if that was part of his character this time. He looks at that poster and can't even die for a high price.

I wish they'd do more lore for the Brethren Court...even an offhand snarky comment about how the Court chickened out when it came to taking down Jones/Beckett.

The 4th one was too small scale and its still the most expensive. Disney just can't control the budget for these films.

I tend to think the 4th POTC's problem wasn't so much in its smaller moments as much as in the fact that it made the same mistake innumerable pirate movies have made: dropping actual seaborn piracy for an attempt to be Treasure Island without actually being Treasure Island. Treasure buried far inland on an island can only be your missions statement for so long before it becomes less of a "pirate" movie and more of a glorified game of I Spy. At least the first three films always kept the naitical nature of piracy to the fore; the closest they got to a regular treasure hunt was the Dead Man's Chest being buried a few dozen yards from the water on beach.

And the fourth one worked as long as the plot was based off staying near the water; there's a reason the actual hunt for the Fountain Of Youth is kind of boring. And every other movie in the franchise used the ships as at least part of their climax.

The single best moment in Pirates 4 is when the mermaids first arrive.

Thinking back on Dead Man's Chest, i realy liked the treasure hunt for Davy Jones's locker. I still think that film was a pretty good sequel.

As for the mermaids scene in Pirates 4, that was a great one, and in my opinion. the only truly great scene in that entire film. Everything else was kinda boring. Only character i actualy found enjoyable was Barbossa, as he actualy had a goal, and his transformation, as well as his exploitation of the new position he found himself in while working for the crown, were quite entertaining.

The British currency in the 18th century was worth more than the modern one. £750 in Massachusetts during 1750 (which is the year in which Pirates 4 is set) is worth roughly $48,000 in 2000.

Agreed with all of this. I also find the 3rd movie really under rated as well.

I love the dark humor you can have in comparing Jack in COTBP to Barbossa. It takes Jack over a decade to defeat the man who stole his ship. Barbossa loses his ship and finds Blackbeard within a year, and it's so certain he's going to take revenge that even a future fortune teller is like "Oh, yeah, Blackbeard, you're Super-Dead! No way to escape death at all."

Not to mention it had one of the best endings of any movie, imo. With Jack being eaten and then that reveal of Barbossa at the end. Really got me psyched for the next one.

Yeah that was damn awesome.

Barbossa's reveal at the end of DMC gave me chills. Loved it.

He's always been the highlight of the franchise for me, truth be told.

Dead Man's Chest had some narrative issues for sure.

Like at the end, they really made it seem like Elizabeth had fallen in love with Sparrow. And even though she sacrificed him, she seemed devastated for doing so. And when Will was asking for a plan to save him, it was almost like he was doing it to spare her feelings because of what happened.

And then the story just brushes aside what happened between Elizabeth and Jack in the next movie. It never sat right with me that they went there with Jack and Elizabeth.

Storylines being brushed aside is the major issues with DMC and AWE. It's like they extended a movie into 2 and just added filler.

That's probably exactly what they did.

I will say, Beckett's death was the coolest villain death I've seen and Davey Jones was and still is a cgi masterpiece.

I still consider Pirates 2 to be one of ILM's greatest special effects works. After a decade, those effect still look great, and i would even say they look more impressive than that of most new blockbusters. The 3rd film's effects aren't very far in quality either.

With how much ILM hyped Warcraft, i was hoping to be equaly impressed, but ultimately felt disappointed.

Like I said even in the 18th century currency that seems like a pathetic bounty for the guy that murdered the head of the East India Trade company, endangered the king and broke out of the palace, engaged in notorious piracy for years, and did about a million other illegal things such as impersonating a cleric. In real life the East India Trading Company put a £1,000 bounty on Avery.

I agree! Remember that POV shot of the Dutchman going underwater? That was incredible.
