In the (incredibly unlikely) event that Fox, Sony, and Disney were to pull a Roger Rabbit and agree to at least one film where all their Marvel characters are able to interact...how would you go about making it? What storylines would you use, what characters, any scenes in particular you'd want to see? This is, of course, a pure fantasy experiment, so no suggestion is too crazy. Have at it!

I'd make a big drawn out drama-laden film where their separate universes have all been merged, unbeknownst to most. A few figure it out (Tony Stark, Professor X, Namor, Reed Richards) and begin to work on a solution, but they're distracted by Galactus being on his way to destroy the world. Over the course of the movie, we see all the heroes interact, Spider-Man hangs out with Human Torch, Thing plays poker with the Avengers, Hulk and Thing fight a bit one time, Spider-Man gets drafted into the Avengers... basically, all the interactions that people like from 616 squeezed into one movie, almost vignette style. Like all these little separate stories that all come together under the threat of Galactus and the end of the world.

In the end, the geniuses get Galactus to eat some uninhabited Earth from a different universe, and the Universes separate, with Reed Richards volunteering to keep Galactus in his universe in the end.

I would go for an interdimensional crossover, rather than a merger, myself. The universes remain separate, but have to team up to stop ____.

This is easy for the MCU and the Fox stuff. The tricky bit is Sony, because all they have is Spider-man, and he's really not suited for dealing with an interdimensional phlebotinum story. He's just not that good a scientist, and Sony doesn't have available anybody else to fill the gap. If Sony had Fantastic Four rather than Fox. . .

. . .actually, you know what, its a tragedy Sony *doesn't* have Fantastic Four. They could have probably done a great job with it.

I only think it's a tragedy SONY doesn't have Daredevil, he fits in with Spider-Man like hand and glove. And why do you think they would do a great job with the FF? They had a chance with Ghost Rider too.

The problem I see with any type of crossover is that some franchise is left on the fringes - I think Galactus makes the most sense as a universal threat, but then you're somewhat hamfisting X-Men & Spider-Man into it. So what else could work? I kinda like the idea of a deliciously evil Norman Osborn trying to take out Asgard in an adaptation of Siege (while the comic event itself was underwhelming, maybe it could work on the big screen?). But then the problem becomes, what's the logical reason for X-Men or Fantastic Four in that setup?

I think any type of crossover film will be hindered by a couple main factors - each studio will want their flagship franchises to look good and will likely demand a central focus in the story, so where's the compromise?

Then the problem of a bloated cast becomes a huge liability... even in the Avengers it was tough to properly develop all 6 heroes, so what happens if you were to place Spidey, the X-Men (and as an arbitrary number, 7 members) plus the Fantastic Four? You'd be looking at so many big name actors who want to protect their characters, who wins out here?

While it'd be amazing to see, the logistical nightmares of pulling this off are mind-numbing.

I'd do Secret Wars. Madame Web and the Beyonder take characters from the different universe and sends them on the planet to fight baddies.

And I'd use both Spider-Men.

Also, Fox should make a deal with Sony put the FF in Sony's Spider-Verse. The FF have no benefit in the X-men universe, and if they screw up a third time that would be alright because the Spider-Webb series isn't that great anyways.

Not really a nightmare, just not a typical superhero movie. Go see Crash, or any of those sprawling romantic comedies like Valentine's Day. Lots of little stories that are all connected. You get a picture of a universe, what we'd be showing off here, and not a picture of a team at all. So there's no need to try and put them all in the same place. If Cyclops says something inspiring to Captain America which later effects how they deal with Galactus in the climax, cool. Also, as i should be, some heroes just stand on rooftops together waiting for the end, it'd be cool to see some of those stories too.

The compromise then is making sure a character from each studio gets focus in the 'main' storyline in the large ensemble film. Spider-Man will get a lot of focus, as he often does in huge events. It really makes a lot of sense in my head, and could really be beautiful.

People don't want a X-Men+Spidey+FF+Avengers team. They want to see Thing fight Hulk, Human Torch hang out with Spidey, Reed Richards get into a scientific argument with Tony Stark, Wolverine and Spidey on the Avengers. So build a film around those stories, not around them all being a team and then trying to shoehorn a dozen different little vignettes that don't have anything to do with the storyline, but are actually what people want to see.

I've heard that with Roger Rabbit, the compromise they reached was that any Warner Bros. character had to be onscreen at the same time as a Disney character, which is why Daffy and Donald, Bugs and Mickey, etc. are always onscreen together. Of course, that's harder to do when you're dealing with three multi-franchise companies with billions of characters that each have their own dramatic arcs to focus on (the characters in RR were mostly just cameos and not actually part of the story), but something along those lines could maybe be a solution.

Personally, while I'm not sure what story I would do, I'm picturing some sort of intergalactic threat. And just before the final battle, for maximum epicness, there should be a Pacific Rim-type scene where Captain America (or someone with similar clout) gets up in front of all the heroes and gives a big emotional speech along the lines of:

"Listen, I know we all have our differences, and the odds are against us. We've each fought our own worst enemies in the past...some of them are even here with us today (quick cut to Magneto and Xavier in the audience). But our planet, our universe, is under attack. Billions of lives may be saved or lost as a result of what we do right now. None of us are able to stop this threat on our own. But if we combine our strengths, our abilities and resources, and use them to attack as one, we might just be able to win this battle. So I'll only ask this once...who's with me?!"

Something cheesy yet awesome like that.

An omnipotent being known as Fanboy (think Batmite) controls their universes like pieces on a chess board, he decides to throw them all together in a movie where he sets them up to fight in a bracket tournament to see who is the strongest.
The winner of the tournament has one wish granted. He or she wishes for the Fanboy to cease to exist and all to return to as it was, he dies a classic Lorne Green pose from Battlestar Galactica screaming NOOOOOOO!!!!!

The heroes all go back to their normal lives and live happily ever after.

That's a 99% RT movie right there :funny:

EssayM, you just watched the Nostalgia Critic video didn't you?

 I am a fan of his, but I don't recall anything like that in his videos.

Or did he just release a video with that reference that I haven't seen yet?

*Runs to go check*

EDIT: Nope. Maybe your referring to his Independence Day review?

LOL Yeah, it'd be like Marvel's version of The Lego Movie.

I was talking about the deal with Roger Rabbit and how they got Mickey and Bugs Bunny to appear, but had to share the same screen time, he just mentioned it in his last video.

Oh, that! Yeah, that did kinda influence me. A lot.

Cool to have found a fellow fan, though:yay:
