For the past month, I've been thinking about possibly getting into podcasting. As I've gotten to listen to more and more podcasts for the past few years, I think they're pretty awesome to listen to.

Has anyone ever done podcasting before, and if so was it hard to do?

I've been a guest on a few local techno podcast in the Tampa area over the years. It wasn't very complicated, they had microphones and a basic soundboard as well as a producer/sound engineer to make sure everything ran smooth and a laptop to record everything. I'm sure it is a little more involved than that but you could make some basic podcast just using soundcloud and a microphone as it lets you record directly to the site although then you wouldn't be able to edit it.

There are a number of free recording programs you could use, Audacity comes to mind. I used to use that for recording my mixes and it is a very solid program and has a fairly simply interface. I know there are a few who do podcast on the Hype but can't recall them off the top of my head but I'm sure they will see the thread and offer their opinions

Two friends and myself have started our own podcast. It was rocky at first but finally at about 4 episodes in I think we're starting to find our voice and get into something of a rythym. One of the most challenging aspects is finding something to talk about if you don't have some sort of schtick to fall back on.

That could be a bit of a challenge, especially if you're like me and you don't have a lot to say; out loud at least.

Yeah, we struggled at first, but soon the conversations just started following naturally. We more or less talk about what's going on either in our lives or pop culture.

My best friend and I do our own podcast/YouTube show. I can't post any links because it's profane and I don't wanna upset Maooz's delicate child-ears :hehe:

You didn't tell me Senty or are you afraid I'm gonna troll your channel and leave comments?

I guess the main thing I need is a good mixer.

A friend of mine was thinking about getting me and our friends together for a podcast. Should be fun!

I've been told the two main rules are...

1. No radio silence. Even if you're just describing what's going on and
2. Have a drink before hand
